It isn't strictly true that one half of the world is rich and the other half is poor. Itis one-third that is very rich and two-thirds that are very poor. People in the richthiJ:ddon't realize the enormous difference between them and the other two thirds.A very simple example is that a dog or a cat'in North America eats better than achild in the poorer countries. A fisherman in South America may be catching fishwhich is processed into pet food and yet his own children are not getting enoughprotein for their - bodies to develop properly. Although a lot of the world;s naturalresources like oil come from these poorer countries, we in the richer countries areprobably using sixty times as much of these resources as a person in Asia or Africa. The richer countries are in a position to dictate to suppliers what kind of prices theyare prepared to pay for these natural resources. In some cases the .process havegone down. In others they have remained steady. But ,theprices the richer countriesget for their own exports have continlled to rise. So they ,are getting richer andricher ,and thepoqrercountries are getting poorer:

.Athey are richer beyond his imagination.B. they are very strong and fat:. .

.C.they eat much and get too much protein... .D. a lot of natural resources in the world come from poorer countries.24. One reason forthe fact that the richer countries are getting richer and the poorercountries are getting poorer is that ~ _

.A. the prices have gone down... B. the richer countries dictate the prices.,.C. the richer countries get a lot of profit..D. the countries of the rich abound in natural resources.
