Polish presidency in the European Council
01.07.-31.12.2011 Dynamism, positive energy and solidarity – those qualities are symbolized by the logo. It shows Poland as a country which is modern and young at heart and which initializes positive changes in Europe. The logo was invented by Jerzy Janiszewski – the author of the „Solidarność" logo, which is world-wide known nowadays and has become a historical symbol of the Polish path to freedom and democratic changes in this part of the world.

The most important presidency meetings are held in five Polish cities, mainly: Sopot - July Wroclaw - September Krakow - October Poznan - November Warsaw – December Expert meetings and events under the patronage of the Polish presidency are organized in many other places throughout the whole country.

• Many cultural projects of Polish Institutes in 22 European and American cities and hundreds of projects in the field of public and cultural diplomacy held by over 100 Polish diplomatic missions on every continent.
Polish presidency is a great opportunity to promote Polish cuisine. One of the most appreciated Polish chefs, Adam Chrząstowski, is supervising creation of fine menu composed of Polish dishes based on native products, meant for high level meetings in Poland and Brussels.
Moreover, foreign delegations as well as journalists visiting Poland during the presidency will receive a package of recipes for Polish dishes, made modern by 16 chefs, including three foreigners, normally working in the best Polish restaurants. All of the recipes are derivatives of the products widely associated with Polish cuisine (e.g. herring, cucumber, groats, venison). All of them are preceded by product description, including its cultural context, understandable for foreign reader. The publication is decorated by modern illustrations.
