GRIFFITH UNIVERSITY STUDENT HANDBOOK
The handbook was designed with first year students in mind. A clear, handy guide to the degree which can easily be carried around. The multi-coloured panels reflect the available courses and the diversity of the students who attend.
Example of a page layout for this handbook, with guides and marks
JOHNNY IS KING.TTF
We designed a typeface for use as part of a film-title sequence. I choseSecret Window (2004), directed by David Koepp, and starring Johnny Depp. Although classed asa psychological thriller, Depp brings a somewhat comical depth to the movie with his eccentric personabringing these characteristics to the design.
Johnny is King, named after the much-loved actor Johnny Depp, who stars in the movie based on the novel written by Stephen King.
WHITEBOARD TYPOGRAPHY
As we tend to rely heavily on computers, to gain a better understanding of shape and balance in letterforms, we were given a typographic quote to draw up by hand on a whiteboard with marker pen, and documented the process in a time-lapse video.

DROP ONE PRODUCT
An advertising based project for the Drop One Product campaign. Using magazines, web banners and outdoor advertising platforms such as billboards and bus stops to persuade the public. I took a slight comical approach to the idea that we don’t need 4-legged tables in our lives anymore.
Who needs a table anymore right!?
ALTERNATIVE TYPOGRAPHY
A series of 3 typographic poster designs for a chosen product. WIth my love for coffee, these were created with coffee beans, ground beans and a cappuccino.
INSIDE INFORMATION
My first multi-page document, a mini magazine about ‘fun facts’ of items at home that you might be surprised about. A series of images were taken leading up to the final art piece once you turn the page.

A depiction of everyday life, routine, coming and going, up stairs, down stairs, checking the mail, unlocking one door and through another.
Looking through the overlay of blinds gives a depth of perception, the small repeating images giving an insight to the daily route I take, but are just a fragment of what my eyes see.
The print was mounted in between clear perspex (841x594mm)and acts as the window into my world. The repetition of imageswith the blue toned pictures scattered around reflect that even though there is pattern in daily life, everyday is still different from the next.
ROUTE WITH A VIEW
This piece is about the layers of a person, the thoughts and activity in your life that you embody. It is also an expression of my relationship with this person and what I believe are important to him.
The amount and cluster of words reflect the depth of thought, the colour of the text expressing activity and energy, and dark background to suggest the unknown and mystery of the future. On transparent paper, the wordsare blurred, as what I believe to be associated with him may not be accurate or agreed with by others.
It is mounted with clear, clouded and mirrored acrylic — layers to what you can and have difficulty seeing, givng depth to the person, relationship, and realising sometimes what you see in someone is reflected in you.
MY LOVES
LIFE DRAWING
A series of life drawings using mainly willow charcoal and then digitally enhanced.
Modelling paste was used to prepare the surface of the paper for texture and added depth.
SPOON ME ORGANIC BABY FOOD
I chose the “Baby Food in Glass” category as part of an entry to the Southern Cross PackagingDesign Awards. I wanted to design a convenient, yet premium product for the urban metropolitan parent, with a natural rubber spoon incorporated into the lid, in a glass shaped to celebrate a mothers curves.
Advice was sought from industry professionals to approve if the design could be manufactured using the ‘press and blow’ process.
The name and label design reflect
the in-built spoon, and spoon-feeding
hungry mouths.
The design also allows for the lid to be placed on the table without the spoon touching.
“Spoon Me” in current social culture has
associations with the affectionate term to
‘spoon’ or ‘spooning’, referring to snuggling. Naming a baby food
product this is intended to be light-hearted
whilst capturing the eye of the consumer.
