Angel Tree WHAT IS IT? An Angel Tree is a Christmas tree you put in your home, office, or business, which is decorated with tags representing needy boys and girls whose parents will come to The Salvation Army of Orange County for help. Angel Tree tags specify either “boy” or “girl” and an age. We choose not to label these with specific children; instead we let parents select toys for their children from the variety we receive. HOW DOES AN ANGEL TREE WORK? Interested people take a tag from your Angel Tree or you may choose to distribute tags. A deadline is set for returning the toys to the tree or the company coordinator. The gifts should be unwrapped however, wrapping paper and ribbons are needed and are given to the parents at the Toy & Joy Shop. The average cost of gifts is $15. WHERE DO THE TOYS GO? The gifts go into our Toy & Joy Shop at Angel Stadium. Parents who qualify – usually those living below the federal poverty level – select toys for every child in the family age 12 and under. We serve over 6,ooo children at Christmas. WHAT TO DO: 1. Designate a coordinator. If you have not already received tags, please complete The Salvation Army Christmas Sponsor Application or call 714-210-6027 to express interest in hosting an Angel Tree. Be sure to indicate the number of tags you will need. Unfilled tags can be returned for use next year. The tags will be mailed to you or you can pick them up at our office. 2. Place your tree with tags in a prominent location, with an explanation to staff and/or customers. We can provide a toy box and graphic support. 3. Once your gifts are ready, please deliver them to our Toy & Joy Shop at Angel Stadium December 7 – 11 M-F 10a.m.-6p.m. Notify us of your delivery date. Limited pick-ups are available if the need arises. Our mission is to serve the needy without discrimination, as a response to our faith and humanity – and the obligation we feel toward others. Part of our Toy & Joy philosophy is that parents receive the credit for bringing happiness to their home during the holidays. Many children served by your generosity will never know how much you have done, but to their parents – and to us – your gift is priceless. Thank you!
