Android M is the working title of an upcoming release of the android mobile operating system .

Android M will focus on primarily incremental improvements and other feature additions

Google has finally announced its next android iteration will be named after the sweet treat marshmallow , so now M is for marshmallow .

marshmallow brings new platform features such as fingerprint scanner & DOZE power saving mode , along with it offers several new features

There has been a lot of changes in android marshmallow over the android lollipop

Android lollipop does not support the fingerprint scanner , mobile payments , app linking , power management etc..

Android m improved the volume controls when lollipop screwed them up

So we can say that android m is an incremental upgrade of android lollipop .

GOOGLE WILL ALLOW USERS TO DECIDE WHICH PERMISSION THEY WANT TO ALLOW OR REVOKE

GOOGLE HAS IDENTIFIED EIGHT PARAMETERS INCLUDING LOCATION , CAMERA , CONTACTS AND SO O

MOBILE PAYMENTS

This feature let you make your payments using NEAR FILED COMMUNICATION (NFC) and host card emulation techniques for tap – to –pay services .

Your payment can be done without opening any app .

Your actual card number is not shared with the store during the transaction

FINGERPRINT SUPPORT

Android M will be the first version of Android that supports fingerprints at the API level.

That means if your phone has a fingerprint scanner , apps can use your fingerprint for authorization instead of a PASSWORD or PIN.

This include apps like password managers , as well as for payments , like with Android Pay.

POWER & CHARGING

Android m will feature a smart power –managing feature called DOZE .

This feature helped to increase the standby time by almost two times over the android 5.0 lollipop

Android M will also support USB Type - C for charging

Chrome custom tabs , a new feature that will let you include webviews within a particular app

Chrome custom tabs support automatic sign- in , saved passwords , autofill and multi processes security to assist the integration of the app and web experience

App Linking Android currently support the app linking

system , also known as intents , which gives you the choice to open a particular web link in a web browser or an app

Android m will let developers add in an auto- verify feature within their code

When a user selects a web link from somewhere , android doesn’t know wheather to show it in a web browser , or some other app that claims support for the link

AUTO BACKUP FOR APPS The device will automatically back up

data for the user’s app.

Data is stored in the user’s GOOGLE Drive account.

Data is restored when the app is reinstalled, either on the original device or a new one IMPROVED VOUME CONTROLS

Silent mode improvements - new `Alarms Only’ mode -Alarm Only is default

New `Do Not Disturb’ Quick toggle

Conclusion

Android m is android marshmallow

Google launch nexus 5 with newly marshmallow operating system on 5th octo 2015. Don’t expect to get it on your device (unless it is a nexus ) until late 2015 / early 2016 .

Android m will provide a lot of great features such as app permission , fingerprint support , web experience, power management , app link and mobile payments .
