CANTALUPO, NANCY CHI. "Comparing Single-Sex and Reformed Coeducation: A Constitutional Analysis."
San Diego Law Review49.3 (2012): 725-789.Academic Search Complete. Web. 7 Feb. 2013.
Nancy, an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown, writes in the San Diego Review about the legal side
of coeducation and single-sex education in America and guides us the history of the two differing
education system. Her article is unique in that she gives a real in depth review of the legal side of the
education system and how the courtrooms go about addressing the subject. I believe that this article
will help me, and because of that, I believe that this will enable to better explain the topic of
coeducation and give a more well-rounded presentation that addresses all sides of the debate.
Feniger, Yariv. "The Gender Gap In Advanced Math And Science Course Taking: Does Same-Sex
Education Make A Difference?." Sex Roles 65.9/10 (2011): 670-679.Academic Search Complete.

A huge sample size of Israel Jewish high school students were surveyed to see the effects that
coeducation and single-sex had on determining which courses each gender took. Yariv Feringer, who is
part of the Department of Education at Ben-Gurion University, wrote that girls from single-sex school
were more likely to take advanced computer classes than girls from coeducational schools. This article
gives me a real view of the comparative effects that both school systems have on a certain gender. With
this information, Ill be able to better demonstrate to my audience the impact that education can have
on different genders.

Goldin, Claudia, and Lawrence F. Katz. "Putting the "Co" In Education: Timing, Reasons, and
Consequences of College Coeducation from 1835 to the Present."Journal of Human Capital5.4
(2011): 377-417. Business Source Complete. Web. 8 Feb. 2013.
This article is about the history of coeducation and what the introduction of coeducation had done to
our society. Claudia and Lawrence, both professors at Harvard, guide us through the timeline of
coeducation and what has come about due to its existence. They offer up analytical data on all the
changes in education and the transition from single-sex to coeducational. This article is very important
to my research because it gives me every detailed backstory to the debate about coeducation. The
statistics and documentation of the consequences of coeducation will help provide me with evidence to
help support my paper.
Hamdan, Amani. "Single-Sex or Co-Educational Learning Experiences: Views and Reflections of Canadian
Muslim Women."Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs 30.3 (2010): 375-390.Academic Search
Complete. Web. 7 Feb. 2013.
With this article, the reader is presented to a study done on education styles outside of the America.
Amani Hamdan talks about Arab Muslim women view on education and how stereotypes that are found
in both single-sex and coeducation influence the demographic. As an experienced researcher at the
University of Ontario prized winning scholar, Hamdan is aware of the issues regarding her article and the
people in it. This article helps out because it helps me to see how coeducation is viewed and talked
about outside of our country. With information on the subject from an outsiders study, I will be able to
write a paper that is more universal and open to others.

In this in article, the reader is told about the effectiveness of single -sex education has had on urban
inner city schools as opposed to coeducation. Billy, Bobby, and Robert, all of whom are employees of
universities, using their combined research efforts to find out the result of the change in education. This
article is essential to my paper because it will give me insight on the opposite side of coeducation and by
understanding the opposition towards coeducation, I can better understand the basis of the debate
about coeducation.. This will hopefully help bring me balance to my research.
Mahan, Rachel. "A Co-Ed Quandary." Psychology Today41.6 (2008): 30.Academic Search Complete.
Web. 8 Feb. 2013.
In this article, Rachel Mahan writes about the advantages of coeducation and also what the education
system does for the teachers. Because of Rachel Mahan varied career background ,which ranges from a
researcher to Science Writing Instructor at the University of Georgia, Mahans article is received with
more reverence. This article also gives quotes from opposing sides on why coeducation is either useful
or impairing. Since my paper will be focusing on the impact of coeducation in our society and whether it
is right for us, I believe that this article will be a very useful asset in my paper on.
Ryan, Erica Clare. "A Boy's Secondary School Changes to Coeducation." International Education
Journal5.3 (2004): 385-395. ERIC. Web. 8 Feb. 2013
What happens when a single sex education school transitions into a coeducation school is presented
to us in this article. The article focuses on the differences between students who spent a long time in a
single-sex school as opposed to those who were in a coeducation school. Throughout the article, Erica
Ryans paper surveys senior male and female student on many different aspects of their life. Erica, a
professor at Flinders University, also states how coeducation affected the male population academic
success in school and the changes that had resulted from the additions of females into the school. I will

able to use this articles research and results to help convey the differences between the two genders in
a coeducation school.
Yalcinkaya, M. Talha, and Ayse Ulu. "Differences Between Single-Sex Schools And Co-Education
Schools." Procedia - Social And Behavioral Sciences 46.4th WORLD CONFERENCE ON
EDUCATIONAL SCIENCES (WCES-2012) 02-05 February 2012 Barcelona, Spain (2012): 13-

Yalcinkaya and Ulu, professors at Bogazici University, emphasizes heavily in this article about the
perceived benefits and defects of both single sex and coeducation schools. This article goes into
differences between each gender and how this creates problems for the teachers because each side
learns differentially, which makes it harder for teacher to teach. Since the purpose of my research will
be to find out whether coeducation is right for us, I believe that this article that details the pros and cons
of single-sex education and coeducation will be very beneficial to me in my agreement and help me to
understand what each side means to each other.
