ISRC: NO2NJ1775 LOS 175-2 This album comprises music inspired by the great Ahmad Jamal and his elegant arrangements of popular jazz standards. From 1958-1961 Jamal played with bassist Israel Corsby and drummer Vernel Fournier. This legendary trio was described as playing bright and light swing music with phrasing and harmony from the bebop area and at the same time clear parallel to classical music. Bassist Andreas Dreier has once again brought his trio together. After amazing critics from the first CD «Poinciana» (2014) Andreas Dreier Trio is now ready with the follow-up. Once again the music is arrangements from Jamals piano trio translated into guitar trio. With one of Norways leading jazz guitarists Bjørn Vidar Solli and the Australian drummer Adam Pache, this trio presents exclusive and elegant swing music influenced by one of jazz history’s greatest piano trios. Bjørn Solli – guitar – One of Norway’s foremost jazz guitarist for the last 14 years – 5 of those years he spent in New York working with some of the world’s best musicians. He has received numerous awards and has toured around the world in places such as China, Australia, India, Canada, Nepal, Vietnam, South-Africa, USA, Russia and most of Europe. Solli has released 4 albums with his organ trio SOLID!, the latest of which features Seamus Blake, and three albums under his own name. On his most recent releases were part of a double album project: «Aglow: The Lyngør Project Volume 1» Solli has once again joined forces with Seamus Blake and a fantastic band with Aaron Parks, Ingrid Jensen, Matt Clohesy and Bill Stewart. Available worldwide on both CD and double LP. Volume 2 came out in 2016 and features Sollis arrangements of his favorite jazz standards, performed with Tim Collins, Phil Donkin, Adam Pache and Jon Wikan. When in the US he has been performing in such venues as Dizzy’s Club at Lincoln Centre, Smalls, Blues Alley, The Bitter End, 55 Bar and Fat Cat with such musicians as Jon Gordon, Kevin Hays, Bill Stewart, Seamus Blake, Clarence Penn, Warren Wolf, Marcus Strickland, Aaron Parks, Will Vinson, John Ellis, Peter Bernstein, Gary Versace, Kendrick Scott, Matt Penman, Orlando Le Flemming, Matt Clohesy, Lage Lund, Rodney Green, Matt Brewer, Doug Weiss, Ben Wendel, Linda Oh, Bryn Roberts, Chris Bullock, Jonathan Blake, Obed Calvaire, Mark Ferber, Jochen Rueckert, Ferenc Nemeth, Alan Ferber, Jamire Williams, Ingrid Jensen, Adam Cruz, Jaleel Shaw etc.

But Not For Me is comprised of

music inspired by the great pianist,

AhmadJamal, and his highly

personal arrangements of popular

jazz standards, recorded between

1958 and 1961 with his celebrated

trio, featuring Israel Corsby on bass

and Vernel Fournier on drums.

This legendary group was known

for its elegant, swinging music, with

phrasing and harmony stemming

out of the bebop era, though they

were also innovative and original

with their sound and concept for

the piano trio setting.

Bassist Andreas Dreier has

brought his trio together again for

this record, on the heels of their

critically acclaimed debut album,

Poinciana (2014). Expanding on the

territory covered on the previous

outing, the music presented on

But Not For Me is an adaptation

of Jamal's classic arrangements,

some adhered to more closely than

others, allowing for the influence

of their own individual personalities

to shine through. With one of

Norway’s leading jazz guitarists,

Bjørn Vidar Solli, the Italy-based

Australian drummer, Adam Pache,

on board this trio is at once elegant

and gritty with its approach to the

chosen repertoire: a fine tribute to

one of the most important piano

trios in the history of jazz.
