N.B. This presentation is a conceptual endeavor. It does not offer implementation specifications. While thoughts expressed are ultimately true and exciting; the intent of this document is to expose you to the amazing uses of this dynamic product. Please see Andek website for the full list of products. Also, take note to the full line of Andek Cocoon products. My focus is the Cocoon line-up. I am not in the habit of chasing leprechauns; it is very satisfying to have these products provide solutions. Enjoy. Sean T. Doyle.

The Cocoon Story - The Beginning, the reality, the possibilities! At the end of World War I in November of 1918 The U.S. military complex began to come home. Warships, tanks and airplanes sat in storage. While in hindsight technological advances would have made most of the equipment obsolete, what was startling was the abject deterioration of the hardware.

Beginning in 1931 after Japanese aggression towards China, the United States military complex began to rebuild. Between 1931 and 1939 a small majority of the military complex was manufactured. With the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 the Unites States went into hyper manufacturing of armament.

However, a lesson was learned. We needed to preserve the immense investment in the military complex. A compound was developed that we now know as Cocoon.

Cocoon is an extraordinary, liquid polymer coating that sprays cobweb-like filaments that form a tough, waterproof, flexible, monolithic membrane that will conform to any surface.

Cocoon coatings form a monolithic seal highly resistant to impact and abrasion. Cocoon will maintain its integrity despite movement at pipe and duct penetrations or expansion and contraction between walls and ceilings. Anywhere there is an artifact that needs preserving, any structure that needs waterproof, weatherproof , environmental adjutant protective sealing could all be cost effectively and easily sealed and protected using ~ Cocoon.

In summary, when War broke out along the 38th parallel bisecting Korea on June 25, 1950. The United States was able to "unwrap" all of the hardware that had been preserved with Cocoon. This afforded the United States and immense head start on war preparation and immeasurable cost savings.

Andek Corporation obtained the rights to Cocoon in 1973 and we are proud to bring this amazing compound to the ever expanding U.S. marketplace in need of innovative solutions.

GREEN TECHNOLOGY PRESS RELEASE

Green Technology in Construction Waterproofing

Better living through green chemistry has been integrated into every aspect of Andek

Corporation's approach to problem-solving, material selection, product design, and distribution

operations since the 1970's. The principle of using low toxicity materials began when most

waterproof coatings manufacturers were using asbestos, lead, mercury, and many toxic

chemicals as ingredients. Andek Corporation implemented "green chemistry" guidelines in

formulation design as part of a corporate culture to integrate sustainable technology with

environmental responsibility.

Waterproof coatings in their earliest forms had very high volatile organic compound (V.O.C.)

contents. This often consisted of the majority of the volume of the product and was essential

to get the coating to a viscosity low enough for application. Andek Corporation realized that

incorporating vast quantities of ingredients designed to be released into the air was not just

unhealthy but was wastefu l. The goal of formulating high solids, low emission products was

tied to the concept that, just as trees emit turpentine, isoprene, and other volatile organic

compounds into the air, a waterproof coating should emit no more V.O.C.s than a tree during

its lifetime.

Durability is, of course, one of the most important ingredients of sustainabil ity. This is central

to the core of green chemistry.

Andek Corporation has utilized polymeric technology that incorporates hydrophobic

molecular design into a stable geometry that anchors into a sub- strate through crosslinking.

This is the process that was first discovered by adding sulfur to natural rubber latex to make

very effective waterproof clothing. This essential durability

Page 10: Andek Cocoon Summary

prevents waste by increasing the lifespan of the product to extend the period of protection of

the substrate.

Energy conservation is an important function of any construction material. Every effort has

been made by Andek Corporation to formulate products that control energy transmission

through the building envelope. Some of these products reflect heat by either reflection or

reduce thermal shock by endothermic reaction. Also important is the use of low energy

demand manufacturing processes to reduce the carbon footprint of production.

Efficient distribution of material using local sources of supply is essential to maintain the

sustainability of any operation. Knowledge of local building styles and codes, together with

climatic and environmental considerations, is extremely important . Andek Corporation has

built a network of technical field representatives that can offer specialized advice through their

extensive knowledge of both their area of expertise and familiarity with specifications for the

use of Andek products. Many people rely on the insight and innovation of this team to provide

durable, long-lasting waterproofing products using sensible green technology. Andek

Corporation is fully committed to incorporating green chemistry into all research and

development, creating breakthrough products of the future for construction waterproofing and

building preservation.

The amazing sprayable polymer coating that protects, seals and waterproofs

Page 12: Andek Cocoon Summary

Cocoon coatings have their origin immediately following the Second World War. Millions of square meters of United States Naval warships and airplanes were successfully coated and “mothballed” with Cocoon for future use. Through continuous research & development, Cocoon’s permanent waterproofing, gas seal and protective qualities have been enhanced and refined.

Page 13: Andek Cocoon Summary

COCOON is a revolutionary, high-quality, sprayable liquid polymer coating. No other product has Cocoon’s unique qualities. It sprays a cobweb-like filament that forms a permanent, tough, seamless, waterproof, very durable coating that can be applied to almost all materials. Cocoon creates a waterproof and vapor-proof barrier that is able to stretch 2.5 times the original size, and return to its original form.

Page 14: Andek Cocoon Summary

Cocoon Protects • Tough, very durable, weatherproof, seamless coating that is highly resistant to impact and abrasion. • Sunlight, rain, wind and marine atmospheres have minimal effect on Cocoon. Provides a very high UV-resistance barrier. • Resists all forms of corrosion and prevents surface deterioration caused by acids, fats, salt solutions, alcohol, greases and fungi, and most industrial chemicals. • Resistant at ambient temperatures to most strengths of common alkalis or mineral acids. • Cocoon can stretch to 2.5 times its original size, and return to its original form. The extreme elasticity of Cocoon permits the coating to stretch and shrink with changing temperatures, and assures that the coating is not damaged or torn. • Will not support combustion. When exposed to a flame, Cocoon will not ignite and will protect combustible substrates from the spread of flames.

Page 15: Andek Cocoon Summary

Cocoon Seals and Waterproofs • Cocoon has the unique ability to bridge openings around penetrations of any size or shape. • Forms a waterproof and vapor-proof barrier in both low and high temperature environments. Water vapor transmission is virtually zero. • Can be applied to interior and exterior structures to protect against the penetration of water, dust, gas and oil. • The tough, flexible web structure ensures the efficient and effective sealing of walls, including wall penetrations, regardless of changes in substrate. • Perfect for sealing against incoming and outgoing moisture, air and gases.
