If you are a visitor, new to our parish,

Corpus Christi - is the Feast
established in 1264 by Pope
Urban IV and continued through
to our current day. It is often
celebrated with a Eucharistic
procession through the parish
neighborhood. Maybe one day we
can have a procession from St. Mary down to
Christ the King Parish. My constant hope and
prayer is that more people would come to
experience the profound gift that the Eucharist
is for us. I would encourage each of us to ask
for a deeper appreciation for this gift.
Adult Faith Formation - I have become more
and more convinced that if we want to help our
youth grow in their faith life, we as adults must
first model for them what an active faith life
looks like. Too often in Catholic parishes there
is a limited amount of programs for adults to
learn and grow in their understanding and
practice of the Faith. While I know Deacon
Henry and Sr. Barbara provide wonderful Bible
studies, I would like to see a more
comprehensive program set up for all of our
members. There should be no reason anyone at
St. Mary’s should have to go to another church
to grow in their relationship with Christ or to
learn about the Faith.
We will be hiring a full time person to oversee
our parish faith formation program at St. Mary.
They will be responsible for the junior and high
school programs, along with various adult
opportunities for enrichment. There is so much
beauty to our Faith and yet the average Catholic
has only scratched the surface. You can either
talk to me or stop in the office for an
application.

St. Mary Church is again taking part in a stewardship project during the month of June for the Perpetual Adoration Sisters of the Blessed Sac-rament who reside at Mater Ecclesiae Monastery on the grounds of our Cathedral. Due to the current health concerns, we will collect monetary donations or gift cards to Hy-Vee, Walmart, Michael’s, Hobby Lobby or gas rather than grocery and personal items. Checks should be written payable to St. Mary Church with “Cathedral Sisters” written in the memo. These can placed in the collection basket (preferably in an envelope marked Cathedral Sisters) or mailed to the church. Envelopes will be provided near the offering basket. We will publish a report at the end of June with the total amount col-lected. Thank you for your generosity! St Vincent de Paul: Today, as we celebrate the gift of the Body and Blood of Christ, let us pray for those who are hungry, malnourished and starving. Is there a family you know who needs assistance? Please call the Society of St. Vincent de Paul so that together we can help those who are hungry.
