Here we are. March and April. It feels like spring time in the Southwest. This is why I

came to Arizona 25 years ago. I look at the national weather on TV and remember how

blessed we all are at Palm Creek. Remember the old joke about carrying a snow shovel

south until someone asks you what that is? I hope you’re spending the days with friends

enjoying all the wonderful events and activities.

The grass got greener, the flowers perked up and the chorus in the SanTan room is

sounding awesome. If you ever think you’re going to miss this, now may be the time to

make Palm Creek your home. We have some exciting things lined up over the next year.

I wish you all the best this year and look forward to seeing you around the property.

Be Safe, Stay Healthy!

February was a record-breaking month for Palm Creek! For the first time ever, we were “sold out” and had to turn away business. Word is out – Palm Creek is THE place to be for the winter!

And, as the season winds down and you’re preparing to pack up for the summer, here are some important things to keep in mind:

Make sure to summarize your site and put away all outdoor items – the winds here can pick up and take heavy items away and cause damage and danger to other people and property.

Check out with Guest Services to let us know when you’re leaving so we can stop your sewer & trash charges and note that you have left for the season.

Please also make sure we have a current phone number and/or email for you as we sometimes experience summer storm damage and we may need to reach you.

Check out with the Mail Room so you can have your mail forwarded.

Book for next season! Each year we’re getting busier and busier and you’ll want to ensure you get your favorite site.

Don’t forget April is still a beautiful month in Arizona so perhaps you should extend your stay a bit longer? If so, we’re offering 20% off extensions. Call or drop by Guest Services for more information.

For those of you who stay year round, we will look forward to seeing you often up at Guest Services!

—Christy

Please Refrain from Helping Yourself!

Many of our residents have planted citrus trees

on their property so that they can enjoy the fruit

throughout the season. We ask that you please

respect their property and not pick the fruit

unless you have been given permission to do so.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ARIZONA REPUBLIC SUBCRIBERS The Circulation Department at the Arizona Republic has indicated subscribers must contact their department prior

to leaving for the season, or you will continue to be billed for a subscription regardless of what you indicated on

your order form. They suggest contacting their department three to four days prior to your leaving, so you can make

sure the paper is stopped. You need to call (602) 444-1000 to stop the paper. After the first prompt, press zero (0)

and you will get to a “real” person to speak with you. —Activities Office

Marion Nelson

Event Manager

Hello Friends!

If you’re like me, you’re probably wondering where the season went? I feel like we

really “packed it in” with dances, entertainments, and activities. However, we’re not

finished yet, and still have some more fun ahead us.

On March 7th, we will hold our annual Fashion Show featuring our own residents as

super models! This year’s sponsor will be Foster’s Fashions, a quaint store located

in downtown Casa Grande. Suzette Foster will be showcasing her new spring line, so

be sure to pick up your ticket soon as we are nearly sold out.

We will be showing two Movies in the Park this month. The first one will be Arrival,

rescheduled from February to

March 8th, and the second one,

Jackie, on March 15th. Just bring

your own comfy chairs and snacks,

or enjoy our freshly popped

popcorn and cold soda for a

nominal charge.

Our last dance of the season will be

on March 17th for St Patrick’s Day.

You will be dancing to music by “The Keepsakes,” who have had their own show in

Branson, Missouri, and also played at the Arizona State Fair. Everyone will probably

be a “wee bit” Irish that day, so be sure to wear your green!

Mark your calendars on

March 22nd for our End of

Season party in Palm

Park! “One of These

Nights” will be performing

their Eagles Tribute on

center stage. Their music

will definitely entertain

you and remind you of the

good old days with some

of their most popular hits during the 70’s. Please see more details on page 14.

It’s too early to say good-bye because I’ll still see you many times at various events

throughout March. Have fun and enjoy your remaining time at Palm Creek!

Here we are once again into March already. My, this season has

really gone by quickly!

This month we are having two dances. On March 4th, Spotlight will

be playing and on March 11th our ever-popular Johnny K will be back.

Our final Craft Fair of this season is on Tuesday, March 14th. Don’t miss out on this last one.

It will be open 9:00am-1:00pm.

Our only bus trip this month will be to Sloan Stadium to see the Chicago Cubs play the Seattle

Mariners on March 9th. The bus will depart Palm Park at 11:00am.

Don’t miss out on Terry Davies—The Piano Man, on Sunday, March 12th. We’ll be enjoying

songs from Elton John and Billy Joel. This will be a show to remember.

There are two National Performing Artists shows this month.

On Sunday, March 5th, it will be piano concert artists Dunlap

and Pennington. And on Sunday, March 19th, it will be Around

the World in a Bad Mood. In this show, a former airline

stewardess shares her comedic take on years on the planes.

We will be having our Club Head meeting on Monday, March

13th at 1:00pm in the SanTan

Room. I will have room

reservation forms available at

that time, so we can begin the process of reserving rooms for

our clubs next season.

Also, any private party that would like to reserve a room next season, forms will be available

on March 13th. Stop by Activities Office to pick one up. I am hoping to have all reservations

completed by the middle of April.

It’s been a great season! Let’s enjoy our last month together!

Dear Friends,

I am sending a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped with our

Cancer Awareness Weekend!

You might remember me saying in January that our goal was to be

“more awesome” than last year. I am happy to tell you that everyone

pulled together to prove that we are indeed, more awesome. For the

last few years, we’ve raised about $18,000 for the Cancer Support

Center. While that was already a huge accomplishment, I am proud to

tell you that “we” collectively raised over $21,000 this year!

I want to acknowledge the efforts of our employees who spent

numerous hours planning, preparing, and executing all the activities.

We are also grateful to the many sponsors who donated products or

funds toward four golf tournaments, the silent auction, and general

support. Of particular note are our three largest sponsors this

year: Little Caesar’s Pizza, Arizona Propane, and USA Insurance Group.

A huge thanks goes out to the various Palm Creek clubs for their most

generous donations through their fundraisers:

Tennis, $2,345

Softball, $1,670

Pickleball, $1,500

Horseshoes, $500

Shuffleboard, $400

Lawn Bowling, $400

Water Aerobics, $375

Roberta Gill and Don Baggett from our Tennis

Club present a “whopping” check to Palm Creek

for Cancer Awareness. The club of 140 members

had a great time raising money for this cause

during a Super Bowl Tennis Tournament, followed

by a banquet and silent auction.

THANK

Page 9: and other pieces by our artists

9

Another big thank you goes out to our many wonderful Palm

Creek residents who generously donated their time, energy, and

funds in numerous ways:

Made, placed, and lit approximately 1,700 luminaries

Volunteered as crew members for hot air balloons

Purchased hot air balloon rides and tethered rides

Participated in golf tournaments

Purchased “golf balls from heaven”

Organized and participated in various club-sponsored

fundraisers

Donated and bid on Silent Auction items

Purchased t-shirts and other cancer logo items

Supported Chili Sale & Pancake Breakfast

Attended Saturday Night Dance with Saguaro Sunset

Donated toward cookies and hot chocolate/coffee (raised

additional $1,600 for Cancer Support Center.

In closing, I’m sending a special thank you to our head-pilot and

resident, John Ross, and his fellow pilots. John worked tirelessly

with his associates to bring the night alive with their hot air

balloons for a true “extravaganza.” They travel from far and

wide at their own expense to participate in our fundraiser:

Bill Armstrong Eric Mueller Bill Glen

Paul Olguin Ken Sklute Mike Liberti

Steve and Deb Trieber

Again, thank you all for being so “awesome.” I am so proud to

be part of this incredible Palm Creek family.

Dog Agility Competition

Please join us on March 9th from 9:00am to Noon for a day of competition as we

showcase our pets! Even if you don't recognize it by name, you have probably

seen an agility competition. Dogs and handlers must negotiate an obstacle course

while racing against the clock. Here are some of the obstacles and jumps that may

appear in the competition: A-frame, Dog-Walk, Seesaw, Pause Table, Tunnel,

Weave Poles, Jumps and Circle/Tire Jump. You can see dogs learning to correctly

and safely navigate all of these obstacles on Tuesdays and Thursdays during dog agility training classes.

When competing, the height of the jump is dependent on the dog's height at the withers (or shoulder). In addition,

there are specific requirements for successfully completing the course. Points are deducted for slow course time,

refusing obstacles and improperly negotiating obstacles. Dogs that take more than double the time allotted to run the

course, or that knock obstacles or jumps down, run the course out of order, foul the ring (potty), or leave the ring,

etc., are eliminated from the competition.

But it’s clear they all love what they are doing! So join us in support of the Agility Club and its members on March 9.

The Valley Humane Society will also be available to showcase some of the pets that need to find loving, forever

homes. Please support this great cause and enjoy a morning of fun at the Palm Creek Agility Dog Park.

Mail Room

On Tuesday, February 3rd, our mail room received 362

packages in a single day!

It’s that time, time to think about forwarding your mail back home. Remember, the Post

Office form is not sufficient to begin forwarding your mail after you leave. If this is your first

stay at Palm Creek, we will gladly assist you in preparing your forwarding information. For

those who have been here before, bring in your leftover labels and give us a departing date.

We can also make new forwarding labels for you, $5.00 for 60 labels. If you choose NOT to

have your mail forwarded, it will be RETURNED TO SENDER.

Another reminder…please return your mail box key, unless you rent your space 12 months a

year, then you keep your key. Otherwise, there is a $5.00 key replacement charge.

Any questions, don’t hesitate to come see us.
