The Pattern of Baptism
“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved”
It’s a burialBaptism comes from the Greek word
“baptidzo” (). Baptizw literally means “I immerse or
bury.” Therefore, Baptism is a burial not a sprinkling or pouring upon.
The Pattern of Baptism
Burying doesn’t mean sprinkling or pouring“I am a stranger and a sojourner with you:
give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight”
(Gen. 23:4)
The Pattern of Baptism
The Death Burial and Resurrection“Therefore we are buried with him by
baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the
Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Rom. 6:4)
The Pattern of Baptism
The Pattern of Baptism

The Purpose of Baptism
To unites us with Christ“If we have been united with him like this
in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.”
(Romans 6:5, NIV)
Obey the gospelBut God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that
form of doctrine which was delivered you. (Romans 6:17)
The Purpose of Baptism
To put on ChristFor ye are all the children of God by faith in
Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized
into Christ have put on Christ. (Galatians 3:26-27)
The Purpose of Baptism
To wash away sinsAnd now why tarriest thou? arise, and be
baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?”
(Romans 6:1)
