AND COPYRIGHT
WHY CC
• To avoid breaking copyright• There are different licenses but almost all allow for
work images / music / media to be used in learner work (although kids need to learn to attribute / give credit)
IMAGE ATTRIBUTION TOOLS
Google for the add-on! We’d link but it’s browser specific.
Use Wikimedia commons and look for this icon to grab the attribution. If you can’t see it, the work might be in the public domain (which means attribution is not required – although you should still credit the creator if a name is supplied).
TYPES OF LICENSEJUST IN CASE YOU’RE NEW TO THIS!
GOOGLE IMAGES IS EVIL• Mostly because the images that come up in a
google image search are probably copyrighted (and it’s a pain to figure out if it’s OK to use them or not)• So, don’t grab content from google images• Don’t cite google images as the source of your
images!
CREATIVE COMMONS IS AWESOME
• You can get images, music and media that it’s OK to use.
DID YOU NOTICE THE GOOGLE IMAGE BUTTON ON THE LAST PAGE?• If you access google images through creative commons,
the results will have a special filter which means the image can be used commercially.• Please don’t cite google images as the source of the
image! You need to click on the image and figure out where it is from – then cite that as the source. Not sure what we mean? Ask your teacher for help.
