THE PHARAOH

The Pharaoh was believed to be the son of Re, the Sun-God and was believed to be a god in human form.

He was the powerful ruler of the country. His job was to lead the country, make the laws,

command the army and to decide trades with other countries.

If you were the son of the previous Pharaoh, when he dies you will probably become Pharaoh.

He was buried in the Pyramid.

THE VIZER

He was the second most powerful person in the Kingdom.

He made sure that everything in the country was running smoothly.

He was usually the member of the Royal family.

THE NOBLES Nobles ruled the regions of Egypt. They made sure that everything in their Region

was going right. They had to Obey the Pharaohs Orders They had to be prepared to raise an army if the

kingdom is attacked.

THE PRIESTS The Priests had to keep the gods happy They had to ask the normal people to

give sacrifices such as food and drink to the gods

Every Priest had a different god to serve.

THE SCRIBES Scribes were the only people that could read and write They had to go to scribes school when they were children When the write about the Pharaoh they had to describe him

as a great ruler and strong commander even if he wasn't. Only boys can be scribe Scribe jobs: writing letters for fellow villagers who couldn't write recording the amount of crops harvested calculating the amount of food needed to feed the tomb

THE SOLDIERS The soldiers had to defend the country

from enemies There were three types of soldiers:

infantry who fought on ground, bowmen who attacked the enemy with arrows , and charioteers who rode on chariots.

Soldiers trained in Barracks when not in battle.

THE CRAFTSMEN Some craftsmen made baskets and

pots for normal people and some were painters, sculptors, jewelry makers, leather workers, shoe makers, and goldsmiths for rich people

THE FARMERS Farmers worked on Pharaoh’s and

Noble’s land and gave them their crops and got housing, clothes and food in return.

THE SLAVES Slaves were usually prisoners captured

at war. Slaves could be found in the houses of

the Pharaoh and nobles, working in mines and temples.
