Anand Urban Education Trust established in 1994 is one of the pioneers in Self Financial

Organizations in Gujarat founded by visionary Educationists, Medical professionals,

Philantrophists and Social workers having wide experience in the field of education, social

awareness and administration.

Objectives

With these objectives in mind a humble effort was made to serve the community and the

nation at large to assist in the Public Health Care Program. A dream got actualized with

the birth of Shri B.G.Patel College of Physiotherapy Anand in 1998.


Shri B G Patel College of Physiotherapy Anand

Established by Anand Urban Education trust, Anand runs a four and half year

Bachelor of Physiotherapy Course (B.P.T.) affiliated to Sardar Patel University, Vallabh-

Vidyanagar. The College is recognized by the Indian Association of Physiotherapists which

is a member of World Confederation of Physical Therapy (WCPT).

It is the first self finance college in Gujarat and has intake of 50 students per year.

There is adequate full time physiotherapy staff, clinical part time teaching staff and

administrative staff.

In accordance with the standards set by the University and IAP, the College has well

equipped laboratories and clinical units. This includes Anatomy Lab. with specimens,

dissection hall, Physiology Lab., Physics Lab. And Prosthetics – Orthotics Unit.

The students are trained in various set ups like Therapeutic Gymnasium, Neuro-

physiotherapy, Paediatric Physiotherapy, Electrotherapy, at the college where in more than

36,000 outdoor / indoor patients are treated annually.

Students are posted at Nagarpalika hospital and the Nursing Homes with different

specilities viz. ICU, ICCU, Orthopaedics, Neurology, Paediatrics, Cardiology & Chest

diseases for indoor exposure.

The college has a centre where EMG (Electromyography) and N.C.V. (Nerve

Conduction Velocity) tests are done on regular basis. The college also has an advanced

LASER unit which is used for pain relief.

The college has been recognized as a District Referral Rehabilitation Centre by the

Health & Family Welfare Department of the Government of Gujarat and Handicap

International. To serve the poor and needy patients of Anand and neighbouring districts.

“Prosthetic and Orthotic manufacturing Centre has been set up for neurological disability

patients and amputees where orthotics and prosthetics are provided in very reasonable cost.

Efforts are made to develop the personality of the students as a whole by arranging

and participating in intra and inter college extra-curricular activities. A Fitness Laboratory

has been established with state of the art gymnasium equipments.


Other facilities available

1. Good, spacious library with latest books in Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation and

Journals with internet facilities.

2. Sports – Indoor games – Badminton, Volley Ball, Table Tennis, Carom, Chess

and out door game - Cricket.

3. Canteen facility in the premises - fresh break fast, tea and coffee is available

during college hours.

Avenues for further studies

The students passed out are enrolled in Ph.D., DPT (Doctorate Physiotherapy) and job

oriented courses of various universities across the globe.

MASTER OF PHYSIOTHERAPY (M.P.T.) COURSE

College of Physiotherapy Anand is affiliated to the Sardar Patel University for the Two

Year General M.P.T. Course with the provision of following elective subjects:

1. Physiotherapy in Musculo-skeletal Disorder and Sports Physiotherapy.

2. Physiotherapy in Neurological and Psychosomatic disorder.

3. Physiotherapy in Cardio-respiratory disorder and intensive care.

4. Pediatrics Physiotherapy.

5. Women’s Health Physiotherapy

6. Community Physiotherapy & CBR (Community Based Rehabilitation).

Fee Structure

As per directives of the Hon. Justice R. J. Shah (Retd.) Admission/ Fee (Medical)

Committee.

Rules governing the admission to Post Graduate Degree in Physiotherapy.

1. The candidate desiring admission must possess recognized BPT degree or equivalent

qualification and should have obtained permanent registration with Indian Association of

Physiotherapists (IAP) or should obtain the same within one month from the date of his

admission, failing which the admission of the candidate shall be cancelled.

2. Provided that in the case of a foreign national he / she has obtained temporary registration

from the IAP for the duration of postgraduate training restricted to the College of


Physiotherapy, Anand to which he is admitted for the time being exclusively for

postgraduate studies.

3. The candidate would be required to attach himself to a postgraduate teacher of the college

in the subject of his studies and work under him or them after registration for the period

prescribed by the regulations, the work done by him after registration only will be taken

into account for the purpose of satisfying the requirements for admission to the

examination as prescribed under the relevant regulations.

4. The candidate would have to get himself registered by applying in the prescribed form for

registration as postgraduate student of the Sardar Patel University. The college will

collect the registration fee at the time of admission and credit to the University, ordinarily

in the beginning of the academic term or at any time suitable to the college.

5. None of the PG students\ during the entire period of their PG studentship/ studies will be

allowed to take up any employment or to do any private practice. They will have to work

as full time PG students in the Institute.

6. The registration certificate issued to a student would be treated as provisional registration

certificate for a period of one year for the postgraduate course and the said certificate be

deemed as final registration certificate after the student concerned has completed one

year’s residency to the satisfaction of the Principal, Shri B.G. Patel College of

Physiotherapy, Anand.

7. The students who have been registered as postgraduate students would be required to pay

regularly the prescribed fee due to the college before due date.

8. The period of registration for postgraduate degree will end with the completion of the

required terms. Simultaneous registration for PG degree in other subject shall not be

permitted.

9. Every application for registration as postgraduate student of the university shall be:

- filled up in the prescribed form

- accompanied by the registration fee, supporting documents etc., and

- Submitted to the university, through the Principal or through the person so

authorized within the time limit as may be indicated.

10. Process of selection

In determining the academic merit, the college would consider the following procedure:

- on the basis of merit as determined by a competitive test conducted by the college

on behalf of the Sardar Patel University, and

- On the basis of the individual cumulative performance at the first, second, third

and final year B.P.T. examinations.


The above two criteria will be given equal weight age in arriving at the merit list.

With regard to the entrance test held for postgraduate admissions by the university or

the postgraduate physiotherapy course shall be fifty percent for all the candidates.

Selection of student will be on merit and the allotment of seats would be as per

the regulation in force.

11. Any person intending to take postgraduate degree in a subject different from the one for

which he had registered earlier must register afresh by paying the prescribed fee.

12. Decision of the Admission Committee is final, binding and irrevocable.

13. Period of Training:

The period of training for the award of degree will be two years. And each year there is

university examination.

14. Migration / transfer of students undergoing postgraduate courses at the College of

Physiotherapy, Anand for degree, shall not be permitted.

15. Payment of Tuition fees

The tuition fees have been finalized and is ` 2,00,000 per year. An amount of ` 60,000 is

paid as an advance towards the first year’s tuition fee. This fees is to be deposited on the

day of counselling which would later be adjusted against the tuition fees. The amount

would be accepted only from candidates who have been offered admission. The

admission would be offered to the next candidate on merit if a candidate fails to deposit

the advance. Please note that this amount is to be paid only by cash or Demand Draft in

favour of Anand Urban Education Trust, Anand, payable on any scheduled bank at

Anand. Repeater student may be required to pay a nominal fee of Rs. 10000/- before

being permitted to re-appear in the University Examination. The final fee is under

revision process by the Fee Regulatory Committee.

16. Rules of Refund of Fee

If a candidate decides to leave the course within 15 days of counselling, he/she shall be

refunded fees after deducting 15% of the annual fees and 30% if he/she leaves within 30

days of the admission. In any case, the candidate who has secured and taken admission

would have to pay the entire course fee if the college is not able to fill the seat due to

his/her withdrawal.

17. Stipend:

The amount will be finalized and communicated to the students on their admission.

Payment of stipend is subject to student fulfilling their obligations with regard to

submission of required documents, certificates, payment of fees and bank guarantee as

per the schedule notified. Payment of stipend will be as per rules and regulation.


18. Bank Guarantee:

Bank Guarantee is to be executed by admitted students for payment of tuition fees for

subsequent years. Format for the Bank Guarantee is to be collected at the time of

counselling.

19. Calendar

The scholastic year will be from June or as may be fixed by the S P University.

20. Manner of Application

The attached application form must be filled in by the candidate in his own handwriting

in BLOCK LETTERS.

21. Attested and clear photocopies of the following documents should accompany the

completed application form:

- Degree Certificate or provisional passing certificate or official final mark sheet for

the I, II, III and final year B.P.T. issued by the University. Certificates issued by

other authorities will not be acceptable.

- Course and conduct certificate for the BPT giving the dates of commencement and

completion of the course, issued by the Principal of the college where the course

was done, and stamped with his official seal.

- State IAP registration no. (Temporary or permanent). Certificate issued by any

other authorities will not be acceptable.

- Birth Certificate / School leaving certificate.

- Attempt certificate issued by the college.

- Internship completion certificate issued by the college.

- Physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner.

22. Documents submitted along with the application will not be returned.

23. Original Certificates should be produced at the time of personal interview.

24. Incomplete application will be summarily rejected and no correspondence thereof would

be entertained.

25. Applications with all enclosures should be sent to reach the Chairman, P.G. Admission

committee (Physiotherapy), K. M. Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, on or before the due

date.

Court Jurisdiction

Any legal dispute arising out of the admission procedure of P.G. Course shall be under the

Jurisdiction of the Judicial Magistrate, Anand – 388001, Gujarat.
