The Mandate for Healthcare Enterprises

4CONFIDENTIAL. NOT TO BE DISTRIBUTED WITHOUT PERMISSION

Healthcare is

undergoing a dramatic

transformation, with a

high level of focus on

costs.

Traditional fee-for-

service is being

replaced by outcomes-

based payment

models.

Global sourcing is

a way to bring

down operating

costs, and bring in

innovation.

Many healthcare

enterprises have

yet to take

advantage of

outsourcing

opportunities, or

are currently in

suboptimal

relationships.

Analytics and cloud

computing strategies

are expected to

greatly improve

population health

management and

reduce infrastructure

costs.

Healthcare as a whole

is in the early stages

of the analytics

journey.

Services

transformation

strategy

▪ Healthcare industry executives are looking for ways to reduce costs, improve operating

performance, and leverage innovative approaches to meet their objectives. We help

identify service quality gaps, and transform service quality through organization design,

sourcing strategies, and operational improvements.

Healthcare CXO’s are challenged with financial pressures arising from reduced reimbursements and a

transformation from a fee-for-service to an outcomes-based model. In a rapidly evolving and consolidating

landscape, senior management executives need expert advisory support to help evaluate and drive decisions in

pace with the changing priorities of the business.

Cloud &

Operations

Strategy

▪ Enterprises are deploying a mix of global shared services and cloud-based models for

flexibility and cost optimization. We help our clients frame and determine priorities and

objectives in cloud-based technology and outsourcing operations, and implement their

strategies for improved operational and financial performance while managing strategic and

operational risk

Value Realization

from Global

Sourcing of

Operations

▪ Our services are focused on helping our clients understand and realize the value inherent in

outsourcing/offshoring and captive global center operations. We specialize in implementing

strategies to unlock and realize the value inherent in these operating models.

Contract

restructuring and

renegotiation

▪ Achieving corporate objectives requires partnering with specialist organizations that can help

with value realization over a long term. However, contracts also need to be constantly

reviewed to ensure value realization, and restructured or renegotiated, or even repatriated in-

house.

Case Study : Large Health System

9CONFIDENTIAL. NOT TO BE DISTRIBUTED WITHOUT PERMISSION

Business Case

▪ The client had entered into a very large IT outsourcing contract in 2012 with a large

global services provider.

▪ The vendor was not meeting service quality expectations and the client was unable to

reach the financial goals projected originally in the business case.

▪ The client needed expert advice to restructure the contract and drive operational and

service quality improvements, while adjusting contract pricing to reflect industry

benchmarks

Approach and Results

▪ Working closely with IT and business leadership, we developed an entirely new

framework for restructuring the contract and driving joint accountability for the future

state goals and objectives .

▪ Simultaneously, through an independent benchmarking of the cost of services, we

were able to identify nearly 50 M million dollars in savings potential through targeted

pricing adjustments.

Background

▪ The client is one of the largest health systems in the U.S, and has a broad national

footprint that serves more than four million people each year through operations and

facilities that span the continuum of care
