Opening Frame
Immediately, the audience will be able recognise that a Super 8 camera over modern cameras were used because it represents the type of music Rey is most known for. Also it sets the tone as quite
dreary and sombre which reflects the message of the song. The vintage effect releases the idea of it being authentic and love is different throughout the ages. We can evaluate this in a deeper
meaning that out of every bad situation you will always find a positive solution.
Frame 2
The second frame shows a close-up of Rey and the audience will be able to notice her facial
expression as distressing which could foreshadow unfortunate events.
The ‘light leak’ effect is continuously used to show the transition from one shot to another. This creates a ‘dreamy’ look or nostalgia.
Frame 3
This is a wide shot of the waterfall connote Paradise and
heavenly.
Frame 4
There are a mixture of fast and slow paced shots which are synchronised with the beat of the song. Also, there are even shots that are too quick for even the audience to recognise. This is effective as it suggest the protagonists erratic state of mind.
Frame 5
This shot connotes death and religion.
Frame 5
There is a lot of light exposed which suggests the woman is
innocent and angelic.
Frame 6
This POV shot creates a sense of reality and engages the audience to a journey most people will be able to relate to.
Frame 7
The smoke was effective because it ties back to the opening scene of the clouds. The clouds symbolise ‘the stairway to Heaven’.
White clothing connotes purity and angelic.
Frame 8 & 9
A match cut was used to symbolise destruction and death. Also, the glass could connote that the woman was very fragile and emotionally drained.
