Analysis of Existing Titles

The mast head for Bromide is very simple and bold. Because of this, it makes it easy to read when glancing at the magazines on a magazine stand. The star on top of the ‘i’ makes it unique. Also, because the font is sharp, it allows it to stand outagainst the plain background. For each issue released, the colour of the mast head and background would

change depending on the colour palette. But the background will always be plain behind it.

The mast head for Ceci is more of an elegant font but still has sharp edges in order for it to stand out. This is a very unique font as the letters are narrow but slightly further apart than the average. For each issue released, the colour of the mast head will change, along with the background. The background is always plain, regardless of the issue release. However, the latest issues havethe main image covering part of the mast head. This is because Ceci is well known brand in

Asian countries, especially Korea.

The mast head for K Wave changed not long after it’s first released issue it was originally using the word wave and created a font based on a wave. This new mast head is much more easy to read because it’s a lot bolder and the font is clear to read. This mast head is unique as it places the ‘A’ lower than the other letters, not many mast heads do this. On most of there issues released, the colour of the masthead and the background would change because of the difference in colour palettes.

However, K Wave have often used black of the mast head.

The mast head for Merlito KPOP is very unique. Firstly, it uses part of the title of the magazine in the first letter of the mast head. Secondly, the letters themselves are very ‘blocky’ in the sense that they have no gaps like the letters should have. Because of this, it makes it stand out against any background, regardless of whetheror not the background is plain or not. It’s also unique because it cuts out part of the letters depending on the

letter previous. This creates a unique style of font as well as making it stand out even more. Also, depending on the issue and colour palette, the colour of the mast head will change. However, it is very rare to see this mast head placed on a plain background - it’s either placed over the top or under the main image.

The mast head for Singles is elegant yet bold and sharp. It uses a serif font to create the elegance. But because of the varying thicknesses in the lines, this creates a bolder font. This mast head is also sharp because of the sharp edges on the letters. Although this style of font isn’t very unique, I find that it works on most occasions that it is used. Also, because of thevariety of the line thickness, this mast head is never placed a background that isn’t plain. This

is because the thiner parts of the font will be confused with the background. Along with the colour palette, the colour of the mast head and background will change.

The mast head for Sparkling is a very simple font but it has little differences to the average that makes it unique. For example, the ‘i’ has a star on on the top of it that cuts slightly into the ‘i’ itself. Also, this mast head is placed on a tilt,regardless of the issue. However, depending on the issue and the colour palette, the colours of

the mast head will change, along with the background and the blue parts. Also, this mast head is always placed on a plain background. Although it would stand out on a busier background because all of the letters are connected, it stands out a little more on a plain background, just like any other mast head.
