The film is about a woman becomes involved in a series of unauthorized exorcism during her mission to discover what happened to her mother, who allegedly murdered three people during her own exorcism. It starts of at a slow pace and changes to a rapid pace that gets your heart racing. There is an effective use of wipes and fades, these transitions add to the fast pace nature of the trailer to add tension. The use of dark colours is evident and adds to the trailer to make it look more scary and gloomy. The trailer conforms to its genre’s conventions as it uses fast paced music when it gets to the scary bits to shock you as it has been quite up until that point. It contains possession in people who is a common theme in this genre. The trailer challenge it’s genre’s conventions by using speech and dialogue in the trailer instead of creepy music and sounds. I think its target audience is 15+ as that is what the age certificate is on the film. It appeals to this audience by using both teenagers and adults as characters to make it relatable to the age group there aimed at. The storyline makes us feel empathy for the girl whose trying to help her mother but makes us wonder why she would put herself through this even though whats done is done. It makes us relax a bit and then when we are not expecting it, it gets scary and makes us jump. Orphan

It is about a couple who foster an orphan. she is bit strange and starts to show signs of abnormal behaviour. She is a young girl that makes everything dark and has a twisted mind. The transition from one scene to another sets a horror feeling as it flashes from one scene to another to give the effect of lightning. There is use of white screens with black gothic text to stick with the horror theme. There is an effective use of wipes and fades, these transitions add to the fast pace nature of the trailer to add tension. The use of dark colours is evident and adds to the trailer to make it look more scary and gloomy. The little girl is the main character and contrasts with the rest of the cast as she has a dark costume and is dressed old fashioned, while the rest are wearing normal clothes with colour. This age certificate is also a 15 so is therefore aimed at a audience of 15+ which again is aided by the use of young and old characters.

A crime writer who moves house finds home movie films that suggest the murder he is currently researching who used to live in the same house is the work of a serial killer whose career dates back to the 1960s. There are some good jump scenes in this trailer. The font is capitalised and easy to read and fits well against the background used and the genre of the trailer horror. There are some effective use of transitions used from one shot to another like the flickering images. There is transitions that almost acts as a flashback as the young girl who used to live in the house playing on the swing . This is a different technique of transitions from one shot to another rather than a fade or a straight cut which is usually used.
