FRONT COVER ANALYSISTHE MASTHEAD – ‘NME’ sounds like ‘enemy’ which could show that the music features is a part of rebellion.

THE HEADER – suggests to the audience that it is more than a regular NME magazine.

THE SELL LINES/COVER LINES – Tells the audience, briefly, what is inside the magazine.

THE MAIN IMAGE – Image of Dizzee Rascal shows the audience what the main article in the magazine is about and will attract more of his fans.

THE MAIN COVER LINE – Name of a music artist, in this case, Dizzee Rascal, to get the audience interested and the main article will be about him.

BARCODE-DATE/ISSUE/PRICE – out of the way so it doesn’t interfere with the cover.

THE FOOTER – Tells the audience what other bands/artists are featured inside the magazine.

USE OF A PULL QUOTE – Shows how successful his music career and the word ‘man’ makes him sound more friendly.

BACKGROUND – Graffiti, symbolises the bad side of society and supports the NME title.

USE OF A FLASH-Offering something extra to target audience. In this case, an article about Dizzee Rascal.

RULE OF THIRDS/THE LEFT THIRD – The masthead is in the top left so people will notice it because they read from left to right. Dizzee’s eyes are in the top third because it is level with the reader’s eyes. The main cover line is the middle third so that it stands out and makes Dizzee look more important to the magazine.

Also, the quote from Dizzee Rascal’s article suggests that he is very successful with his music career and so his fans and people who don’t listen to his music will want to know why and how he is successful.
