Indie/rock music video. Throughout the video, the camera shows the band from different angles and different lighting. In this particular video, they have shot the whole clip on a green screen and used special affects to create a relationship with the visuals and lyrics. When the beat is calm, the video expresses this using longer shots and less dramatic shot transitions; this is reversed when the music is more up beat, and shots are much more fast paced with several transitions. The camera also shows close-ups of the lead singers face as a promoting technique, so the audience can clearly see his face. Just like typically Indie genre videos, the band is shown performing in front of a green screen.

The use of special effects on the green screen also convey a relationship, with bright colours, text and patterns creating illusions and emphasising the common indie ‘being individual’ style.

This video was one of the first for the band, and helped them establish there unique style. The camera shows many close-ups of each character of the band from different angles. This creates an image of each person to the audience; This makes the band more memorable. This is a common techniques used by record labels to promote the band. We become more and more familiar with the band encouraging us to purchase CD’s and products relating to the them. Although, like common bands, they show close ups of their lead singer more than the rest, as he is seen as the most important person in the band.

although, they have used this technique in a much more discreet way. In other genres female characters are shown in a more sexual form, wearing little clothes. In this video, they show females performing, but with similar characterises and style to the band. This emphasises the band having feelings of love for girls rather than the common convention shown in Hip-hop style of videos, of more sexual relationship.
