http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foeZROfn90s

Page 3: Analysing music videos

• Narrative: Tells us Tinie’s journey; concerts, going into schools= success •Performance: We see him singing directly to camera along with dancing to the track for his audience. •Realism of events: Actually events that his audience can relate to such as V Festival, St Paul’s Academy, T4OTB, Award show•Non Realism: Things being shown on buildings with usage of CGI and special effects that highlight the genre of his music. •Audience: Anyone who likes his music and that is aware of his successes or for those who don't know to get an insight into his career so far.

Mise en scene

• Costume: Tinie’s glittered suit that he uses when performing/singing to the audience. Along with ordinary clothing when he visits different places and then his style of fashion when he is on stage which is normally a t shirt or topless with bottoms/smart trouser.

• Lighting: We see a spotlight on him singing to us in the camera and then a bright atmosphere against the buildings that Kelly Rowland is featured on. Flashing lights also occur largely at concerts.

• Actors: Tinie always featured, Kelly Rowland little as she is just a feature in his song for the chorus.

• Make up: Make up not much because he is just performing and doing what he does best, we see more on Kelly but mainly because she is a woman and only her face is visible to us.

• Props: Music instruments, his glasses, the buildings, clips from performances/events, head piece on Kelly when graphic matches take place.

Camera

• Low angle: Tinie singing up to camera• Long shots showing locations that are especially effective like the

concerts and radio studio or the children’s classroom, outfits mainly when he is on stage and when he is in the spot light on his own in front of us , crowds to show us his support/fan base and how many people he attracts with his performances.

• Close up and Mid Shots of Tinie and occasionally Kelly when singing directly to us

• Camera in constant movement and we get series of fast-cut montage as so much happens in the video that they want to bring out therefore we see foregrounding taking place.

• Panning and tilting also feature at different times throughout the video.

Page 8: Analysing music videos

•Performance: Very much performance in that all the girls are shown singing the main focus is on them and their voices. •Realism of events: All set in actually places, we get to see an insight into a house and its rooms, a beach and the girls around a fire.•Audience: People inspired by the girls as its heavily focused on them. People who like their music or can relate to the lyrics felt by the girls.

Mise en scene

• Costume: The girls are all wearing something different that stands out when in different rooms of the house which are all pretty smart posh looking dresses or flowing material. Coats and scarves to highlight realistic day time temperature when they are outside in the open.

• Lighting: Shots closer to the window have more light, normal daylight is shown throughout but much brighter when the girls have left the house and are outside during the day.

• Actors: Only the 5 members of The Saturdays are featured in this video as its them all singing with heart felt meaning.

• Make up: Girls all wearing full make up but made to look natural to fit in with the sad tone of the song showing natural beauty and betrayal of the heart.

• Props: Umbrellas are a main feature when outside, their winter warm coats and just other props that set the scene but barely visible.

Camera

• Long shots of girls coming out of the house to show us as the audience a clear indication of scenery change. Also of the girls outfits which help show their personalities and the greater pop genre.

• Close up and Mid Shots of their faces whilst they are singing to show their expression and emotion towards the song and its meaning.

• Camera flicks between the girls with straight cuts between them in the house and then outside scenery and scenes.

Editing

• Straight cuts to different scenes doesn't stay in one place girls can be outside one minute then inside/interior shots the next.

• No special effects or CGI true to life just shows the girls singing and performing for the camera
