In this main image Katy Perry is looking content with life suggesting that all pop artists have a bright and happy life and happy songs linking with the bright colour theme of this front cover. The main image is also a closed image like she is holding her body in to show a sense of innocence and shyness because it is a closed image. I feel like all these things connect more with a girl target audience because it associates with them more, especially as we see flowers as girly and pretty.

The magazine is in pink and there are flowers and she is wearing pink lipstick which could be iconic signs for summer where there is positivity and happiness to show that pop artists are good role models. All the writing around It is all in sans serif which can be known as an iconic sign and although they may not be all the font it all looks very similar and neat suggesting that the inside of the magazine will be easy to read and all organized.

The magazines masthead is “Billboard” which is the name of the magazine. The magazine must be a popular one as the celebrity is covering half of it. You can also tell that in this magazine there will be a lot of colour as they have included it on the masthead. Also the masthead is black which makes it stand out as the rest of the magazine is colorful showing that just the title is important.

The main cover line is Katy Perry which is black and bold and catches peoples eye. It brings audiences that enjoy Katy Perry's music and they would be the preferred readers of the magazine. However , this could also bring people that don’t like Katy Perry away from the magazine making it oppositional.

The masthead is in a speech bubble which suggests that readers of the magazine are saying this stuff about it bringing the audience in from good views. Also the heart is a symbolic sign of love which is a thing everyone wants so they are more likely to read the magazine. Also in the masthead the pink really stands out suggesting that this magazine goes out to girls.

The skyline of the magazine uses a famous celebrity that may bring readers or may lose readers. This is because it will bring audiences that enjoy Justin Bieber and because he is at the top it may suggest that this magazine is exclusively about him. Making readers that like him want to read it and readers that don’t, may not want to read it, on the other hand they may want to read it as it is suggesting some bad gossip on him.

The layout of this magazine is very messy and all over the place. Which could reach out to teen audiences as they are represented stereotypically to being messy. It also suggests that there is a lot of stuff in this magazine which will make audiences exited and wanting to read it. Cover lines that are involved are very much involved around for girls for example the sexy souvenir poster of 1 direction which girls would girls would probably cherish more than male. And the puff of the summer shopping guide show female outfits that are inexpensive suggesting that the audience of this magazine is female girls. Lastly the main image shows Cheryl Cole which is a well known celebrity. She is shown to be smiling which can be the iconic sign that she is happy, on the other hand, it can be an indexical way of a flirty look as her eyes look like she is trying to draw you in.

The celebrity's all look content which links with the connotations of a pop magazine. Also they all have cheeky poses as we see pop artists to be cheesy and cheeky which conforms with our stereotypical response.

The more important cover lines are really obvious as the numbers that are shown for them are bigger if they are more important or more readers will like them and smaller if audiences wont enjoy them as much for there entertainment. The fonts of the numbers are all the same however they have different colours depending on what readers will read more of.

The typography of the headline is sans serif and is black and bold and stands out from the rest of the page suggesting that this is the most important information on this page. It also has the word “we” which suggests that all readers love the magazine which will make readers want to read it because its like it has good reviews. Love is an iconic sign which represents a person liking something but can also suggest an indexical sign that they can be attached to something which suggests that audiences will be attached to this magazine.

This contents page unlike the other one is very pink and feminine. The colour pink usually represents sweet, nice and playful which suggests that this magazine includes a lot of girly things in and is more targeted against the feminine side.

The headlines of the columns are cheeky and girly which can connote pop magazines. The iconic sign of the heart represents love which brings happy things into the magazine which is showing that pop music is positive. The typography is curly and fancy and is the only black on the page showing that the headlines may be more important that the big headline as it shows what the magazine contains. The headlines will make the readers want to read in the columns and read more.

The title of the contents page is clearly placed at the top of the page, informing the readers on what the page is about. The title is really clear and the colour scheme has kept constant throughout consisting of pink.

There are minimal images on this contents page however the ones that have been picked have been picked carefully reaching the target audience. For example the purse is an iconic symbol of what girls usually carry around in men and the male performer is a dream guy which young girls would usually fantasize over. Lastly the image of the front cover labelled is a clear map to show the readers where the main cover lines are and making the magazine easy to read and use.

In this double page spread in the columns the main information is highlighted in yellow to suggest that that is the most important information that you should take from this part of the magazine. All the main article is on the left hand side of the magazine while the main image is on the right. The main image must be the

most important thing on this double page spread as it is taking up a whole page on the right hand side. The main image is a picture of celebrity Cher long shot of a cheeky pose which conforms the connotations of a pop magazine however, by the name of this headline its suggesting that she isn't pulling a cheeky pose for a good positive reason which subverts what we expect and makes pop artists look bad.

The double page spread keeps with the continual colour scheme of pink suggesting that this magazine is targeted towards girls and is very effective in this magazine as it goes well with the white and looks professional. This colour scheme is attracting females into reading this magazine. In this main image Cher

has tattoos and her belly is on show suggesting to some audiences that she may be a bad influence on young girls. She is also pulling a facial expression like she has done something wrong so this article is giving a bad image on pop artists.

The typography of this headline is sans serif and is in black and pink. Where most of the colour scheme is pink half of the title is black which suggests that’s the main part of the story. The headline is trying to make readers feel sorry for her.

The main image is on the left hand side of the double page spread and is taking up the whole page, suggesting that this is an important part of the magazine. Jessie J is a pop artist and in this image she is wearing a fur coat suggesting that she has a lot of money suggesting to her readers that her music must be good. Unlike other pop magazines she is not smiling and conforming stereotypical ways, which may suggest that some pop artists are very serious with what they do.The colour scheme on this page is grey and orange which represent warm and happiness and reserved which are all positive representations of pop artists. The colours compliment each other really well making the magazine look really professional.

The image is directly addressing the reader through eye contact bringing the audience in and could be a form of flirtatious ways.

The skyline is “Fun Fearless Female” which is alliteration that suggests that all women are fun and fearless attracting women audiences because they are being empowered. It is suggesting that this article is on a women who is both these things and suggests that will help other female audiences become them as well.

The text is very heavy and in columns which makes it look very clear and professional, it may suggest that its for an older audience as younger audience may be put off from all the writing.
