NOTE OF THE NIGHTThrough 30 – At the 30 game mark, the Capitals are 21-4-5, setting a franchise record for the most points (47) through 30 games.Offensively, the Capitals’ 109 goals this season lead the NHL. Including their three credited shootout goals, their 112 goals through 30games is tied for the seventh-most in franchise history and is the same amount of goals through 30 games during the 2018-19 season. With 86 goals against, the Capitals' +26 goal differential is the second highest in the NHL (Boston: +36) and is the fifth-highestdifferential in franchise history through 30 games. The Capitals' 24.2 power play percentage (22 goals on 91 opportunities) this seasonranks fifth in the NHL. The winners of three Presidents' Trophies (2009-10, 2015-16, 2016-17), the Capitals project to finish with themost points in a single season in franchise history (128).

TOP FIVE CAPS FACTS Johnny 100 - John Carlson scored his 100th and his 101st goals of his career with a two goal night against the Los Angeles Kings. Hebecame the fifth defenseman in franchise history to record 100 goals and the 30th player overall. Since 2009-10, he became the 12thdefenseman and the 13th American defenseman in NHL history to reach the mark. Since the 2017-18 season, Carlson's 39 goals aresecond among defensemen. Carlson is seventh in the NHL in goals by a defenseman since his first career goal on March 25, 2010.

Elite Class - With his two goal performance, Carlson has 42 points (11g, 31a) in 30 games. Carlson became the first defenseman

since Al MacInnis (1990-91, 11g, 31a) to record at least 42 points through a team's first 30 games of the season and one of four

defensemen in NHL history (Bobby Orr: five times; MacInnis and Denis Potvin: once). Carlson was one point shy of joining Orr as the

only defenseman in NHL history to record at least 43 points in 30 games. In the previous seven occurrences of a defenseman

recording 42 points in 30 games, six of them would win the Norris Trophy as the NHL's top defenseman.

Different Time - When MacInnis reached the 42 point mark in 30 games, two defensemen were within three points of his total.

Carlson currently holds a 14 point lead over the next closest defenseman.

Multi-Carly - Carlson's two goal game against Los Angeles marked his third multi-goal game of the season. Entering this season,

Carlson had three career multi-goal efforts in 688 career games. His three multi-goal games lead NHL defensemen, with only two

other defensemen recording at least two multi-goal games and 12 total defensemen recording at least one. Additionally, Carlson has

13 multi-point games this season, which leads NHL defensemen and are six more than Dougie Hamilton, who ranks second with

seven. There are 235 defensemen this season who have played in the NHL and have recorded 15 total points or fewer.

Torrid Pace - Carlson leads all NHL defensemen in goals (11), assists (31) and points (42) and ranks third in the NHL in assists

(Leon Draisaitl: 33; Connor McDavid: 32). Carlson has recorded a point in 11 of his last 14 games (4g, 15a) and 23 of his 30 games

this season, including a separate nine and eight game point streak (nine games: Oct. 8 through 24, 5g, 13a; eight games: Nov. 7

through 20, 1g, 12a). Carlson is on pace for 114 points over an 82-game season. Only five defensemen in NHL history have

recorded more than 100 points in a season (Bobby Orr: six times; Paul Coffey: five times; Denis Potvin, Al MacInnis and Brian

Leetch: each once) and only Orr and Coffey have recorded at least 114 points (Orr: five times; Coffey: four times). The Capitals'

franchise record for points in a season by a defenseman is 81 points (Larry Murphy, 1986-87: 23g, 58a).  6 at 10 – The Capitals are the only team in the NHL with six players who have scored 10 or more goals (Alex Ovechkin: 20; JakubVrana: 14; T.J. Oshie, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Tom Wilson and John Carlson). Only two teams (Colorado, Florida) have four players with10 or more goals. Last season, the Capitals were tied with the Columbus Blue Jackets with the most players with at least 20 goals (AlexOvechkin: 51; T.J. Oshie: 25; Jakub Vrana: 24; Tom Wilson, Nicklas Backstrom and Brett Connolly: 22; Evgeny Kuznetsov: 21),however, Washington was the only team that did not acquire any of their 20 goal scorers via trade at some point last season. Thisseason, the Capitals have six players on pace to score 20 or more goals. Winning on the Road - The Capitals lead the NHL in road wins (13) this season and hold a 13-2-1 record overall. Should the Capitalsbeat Anaheim, they will sweep a road trip of four games for the second time in franchise history (Feb. 9-16, 1993: wins againstMinnesota North Stars, St. Louis, Los Angeles and San Jose). The Capitals' hold a record of 108-54-18 on the road over the lastfive seasons and lead the NHL in wins and points (234) during that span. Alex Ovechkin has scored 15 of his 20 goals on the roadthis season, which is the most road goals in the NHL. With 345 career away goals, Ovechkin is now two goals shy of passing MarcelDionne (346) for the sixth-most road goals in NHL history. 20 Goals – Alex Ovechkin has recorded 15 consecutive 20-goal seasons, joining Marcel Dionne, Mike Gartner, Jaromir Jagr and MatsSundin as the only players in NHL history to record 20 goals or more in each of their first 15 seasons. Additionally, Ovechkin tiedGartner for the eighth most 20-goal seasons in NHL history. ).

Consistent Threat – On pace for 54 goals this season, Ovechkin, who turned 34 on Sept. 17, is looking to become the second

player in NHL history to record at least 50 goals in a season at the age of 34 or older (John Bucyk: 51 goals in 1970-71 at the age of

35). Nine players in NHL history have recorded at least 40 goals at the age of 34 or older.  Sweet V – This season, Vrana’s 14 goals rank second on the Capitals (Alex Ovechkin: 20). All 14 of Vrana’s goals have come at evenstrength, which is the third-most in the NHL (Leon Draisaitl and Brad Marchand: 15). With 14 goals in 30 games, Vrana is on pace for38 goals this season. Should Vrana reach the mark, he would become the first non-Ovechkin Capital to reach the mark since AlexSemin (2009-10: 40 goals).  QUICK HITS California Love - Should the Capitals win against the Ducks, it will mark the first time in franchise history the Capitals went 3-0-0 on theroad against all three California teams (5-2 win against San Jose on Tuesday, 3-1 win against Los Angeles on Wednesday). It will markthe first occurrence by any team in 2019-20 and just the fifth such occurrence by any NHL team since 2016-17. Since the Ducks' firstseason in 1993-94, NHL teams have swept the California teams just 21 times in NHL history. Hags is Back –  With Carl Hagelin in the lineup this season, Washington has killed 57 of their 66 penalties (86.4 percent). Holtbeast - Braden Holtby has earned a point in 15 of his last 16 games (13-1-2) and 18 of his 21 games played this season (14-2-4),tied for the NHL lead in wins.
