Type 1: If you live in a beautiful place, you will be happy.

Type 2: If you lived in a beautiful place, you would be happy.

Type 3: If you had lived in a beautifu place you would have been happy.

There are three basic conditional types:

Can you see the difference among those sentences?

Exactly! The main difference is the use of the verb tenses. Why don’t you try to complete the structure?

Type 1: If+subject+verb in_______, subject+will+infinitive.

Type 2: If +subject+verb in past,subject+________+infinitive.

Type 3: If + subject+ verb in ____________, subject+would have+ past participle.

something real. However, the second one shows just the opposite, something unreal. Finally ,the third

example talks about regrets or something you could

have done in the past, but you didn’t do.
