Analysis of my music magazine.

The masthead of the magazine is in big font and in a bright shade of red. This is VIBE’s signature masthead, this gives the brand identity and makes its masthead more recognizable to regular readers.

The modal is Kendrick Lamar. He is a recognizable hip hop artist, this will appeal to the magazines target audience, which is hip hop (Kendrick Lamar) fans.

The cover lines also make it clear that this is a hip hop magazine, including the big names in hip hop like Kanye, R Kelly etc. and adding hip hop phrases like ‘MC.’

For the mise en scene, The magazine is laid out in such a way that its clear that its target audience is hip hop fans. The modal is a well known hip hop artist, other big hip hop names are included, well known symbols of hip hop are included: a gold chain and a white T shirt. This kind of adds to the stereotype that all hip hop artists just love expensive chains and flashy clothes.

The first letter of the magazine is put here rather than the full magazine name, this is most likely because the magazine is already well established, and will only use space to promote what's within the article.

For the mice en scence, the magazine is very well structured to show a sense of professionalism. The model in the image is making a stereotypical representation of appearances of rappers. (snapback, chain, baggy clothes etc.)

The particular articles in the magazine are listed to give people a clear indication of what's within the magazine, this also reassures the TA their reading a magazine that will suit their taste.

Articles are numbered so readers can find the page of an article that takes their interest.

For rule of thirds, the middle is the main focus because it has the modal in it, the right side is also a focus because it indicates what's within the magazine, which many people would be looking towards.

One side to the double sided page is just a picture of the modal to outline the relevance he brings to the magazine and how his story is a vital part of this issue. And when TA sees this they will most likely get invested and read even more.
