Introducing RefWorks
RefWorks is an online tool that allows you to manage your scholarly information and to helps you to reference it correctly.
A RefWorks account can be created by any ITB student or staff member. For full details of how to create a RefWorks account, please see: http://issuu.com/itblibrary/docs/access_refworks_itb_library

Introducing Write n Cite
Write n Cite is a Word Plugin; it allows you to access your RefWorks account as you write…
Clicking on the RefWorks tab will give you access to your account
Click on the Log In icon and enter your log in details to access your account
You are now logged into your RefWorks account and you can access the references in your account
Start by selecting the Referencing Style you will be using from the drop-down menu, e.g. IEEE or Harvard
To reference a piece of information in your text, click on the Insert Citation icon and select Insert New
Browse the list of your references to select the source you wish to reference. Click to highlight it. Click OK.
Note the selected reference has been inserted into the text as an in-text reference
*The reference is inserted at the point where the cursor was located in the Word document
Additional references can be inserted in the same way.
References can be edited, e.g. some referencing styles require you to add a page number when using quotes
Reference lists appear at the end of your written work. You should start your reference list on a new page.
Click on the Bibliography Options icon and select Insert Bibliography.
The bibliography generated will include the full references for each of your in-text references.
*Remember: references are generated using the data in your RefWorks account!
The Write n Cite plugin will soon be available on all student PCs in ITB.
In order to know if this plugin is available on a PC, open a Word document and look for the RefWorks tab

In order to use Write n Cite off-campus, you will need to download the plugin.
Login to your account. Click on Tools and select Write n Cite to download the plugin.
