What is Religious identity?

Costume – what we wear can give us a religious identity.

Prayer – How a person prays can be related to the religion that they follow.

Scripture – Most religions have Holy Scriptures each unique to specific beliefs.

Holy buildings –Nearly all religions have buildings where they meet to worship together as communities.

Symbols – Can be like badges, they identify different religions.

A kippah is small skull cap worn by Jewish people.

A Synagogue is a Jewish place of worship

The Torah is the most holy Jewish scriptures and is found in the synagogue.

A Rabbi is a Jewish preacher and will lead the service on Shabbat.

The holocaust was a sad point in Jewish history. Adolph Hitler tried to wipe the out of existence. Over 6,000,000 Jews died in the holocaust.

is on of Judaism oldest symbol and dates back to over 3000 years.

The menorah is a candle stick that can be found in every synagogue. It is used on festivals.

Jewish identity

The synagogue is at the heart of the Jewish community, Jewish people go there ever Shabbat (Saturday) to worship God. They believe this is a holy day that God asks us to rest. It is a family day set aside from every other day.

Moses is a key figure in Judaism, he was given the ten commandments by God. These are laws that Jewish people try to obey in life. They can be found in all synagogue written on two tablets ate the front where the Torah is kept..
