WELCOME I

Tena Koutou. Welcome to AIVILINC 2013.

We look forward to welcoming you to Wellington next year. This shall be the first AMUNC hosted in New Zealand since 2007

and it represents only the second time that the conference has been brought outside Australia. Our aspiration is to deliver a

conference experience that will enable youth to embrace their responsibilities as global citizens. Because the future of

the United Nations depends on how we can harness the energies of our generation, we shall do our utmost to facilitate a

forum in which university students from all across the Asia-Pacific can articulate a brighter future.

We are especially excited to showcase the best our country has to offer. The 2013 Host Team is putting together a phenomenal

line-up of social and speaker events. This is topped off by Wellington's charm as the "coolest little capital" with some of

Australasia's best bars, cuisine and coffee. New Zealand's best scenic and winter attractions are also only a short drive away.

Moreover, coming to Wellington shall provide you with the opportunity to gain exposure to new ideas. Our unique worldview,

proud indigenous heritage, multicultural identity, and innovative approaches towards addressing socio-economic challenges

combine to form a highly dynamic political environment.

We hope that you will choose to embark on an unforgettable journey to New Zealand and we look forward to seeing you in

Wellington for AMUNC 2013.

Since the first conference in 1995, AMUNC has grown to become Australasia's largest, and one of the world's most

prestigious, Model United Nations experiences for university level participants. In recent years AMUNC has

consistently drawn up to 500 delegates and conference staff and cultivated enduring partnerships with government

departments, city councils, universities, and non-government organisations.

AMUNC 2013 will be the second time that the conference has been held in New Zealand. While 2007 saw the

conference hosted in Auckland, next year AMUNC will be supremely well accommodated in our capital city, Wellington.

Delegates will spend the week experiencing the capital and visiting Victoria University of Wellington, one of Australasia's

top universities. With the Victoria University campuses offering top-class facilities and more international delegates

than ever before expected to attend, AMUNC 2013 will truly be a world class Model United Nations conference.

I WELLINGTON CITY

Wellington is a city with a diverse cultural layout, playing home to New Zealand Parliament and the

courts, with an eclectic mix of central business and shopping districts with more bohemian areas with

fashion stores, art galleries and op-shop that make the city such a unique location. It has a vibrant

boutique cafe scene and some of the best restaurants in the country. It's a city that enjoys good food,

good company, and above all, good coffee.

Wellington has also become home to a thriving film industry with

several New Zealand director's developing international

blockbusters such as Sir Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings, King

Kong), Andrew Adamson (The Chronicles of Narnia) and Martin

Campbell (Casino Royale). Brought to international public

prominence over the last decade major production companies

Weta Digital, Weta Workshop and Park Road Post - described as

some of the best production houses in the world - are based on

the outskirts of the city; with film credits including Avatar, The

Adventures of Tintin, Prometheus and The Avengers. Even though

you'll be hard-pressed to find Hobbits, giant monkeys or aliens

around the city, it doesn't stop people searching.

All of these elements build Wellington to be labeled by Lonely

Planet as the "coolest little capital in the world." It is a city with an

endless amount to explore, learn and discover. A place you'll

Idefinitely want to experience.
