Both could be oversights(L.F. Graham & A.L. Tonnoir were bothemployees of CSIRO). The two remainingSyntypes are the specimens on Slides 2 and3 dated 7.viii.1931 as mentioned in theunpublished manuscript. The remaining 9 4on Card 2 and Slides 4-5 may have beenseen by Girault, but there is no proof thatthey were except for "DET. A.A.GIRAULT ix.32" in a hand not Girault's.The Paratype labels on Cards 1 and 2 areincorrect.

Although he did not annotateCirrospiloidelleus bicolor as "new species"until 1915 it was made a valid, available,nominal species in 1913 since it wasaccompanied by a description. Thespecimen from Gordonvale is therefore theHolotype and the one from Cairns has notype-status. Girault has no data on the 2females which makes it difficult to sortwhich is from Gordonvale. I suspect thatthe female on Card 2 may be theGordonvale specimen since the parts on theslide (labelled Cirrospiloidelleus bicolor )match those missing from this femaleexcept for the left fore wing. However theslide is so badly made that Girault mayhave lost the fore wing during the slide


mounting procedure. I leave it to the firstreviser to select the correct specimen.
