Slide 1 and Card 1! regard ascontaining 1 d 2 29Syntypes which

Girault calls "types" in his unpublishedmanuscript. This is in spite of Girault notlabelling Card 1 as a type and the collectoron Slide 1 being L.F. Graham instead ofA.L. Tonnoir. Both could be oversights(L.F. Graham & A.L. Tonnoir were bothemployees of CSIRO). The two remainingSyntypes are the specimens on Slides 2 and3 dated 7.viii.1931 as mentioned in theunpublished manuscript. The remaining 9 4on Card 2 and Slides 4-5 may have beenseen by Girault, but there is no proof thatthey were except for "DET. A.A.GIRAULT ix.32" in a hand not Girault's.The Paratype labels on Cards 1 and 2 areincorrect.

I also suspectGirault had two specimens, one for the1913 description from Gordonvale and onefor the 1915 description from Cairns.Girault, as a rule, always seemed to specifythe locality Gordonvale (Cairns) as separatefrom Cairns. Although he did not annotateCirrospiloidelleus bicolor as "new species"until 1915 it was made a valid, available, nominal species in 1913 since it wasaccompanied by a description. Thespecimen from Gordonvale is therefore theHolotype and the one from Cairns has notype-status. Girault has no data on the 2females which makes it difficult to sortwhich is from Gordonvale. I suspect thatthe female on Card 2 may be theGordonvale specimen since the parts on theslide (labelled Cirrospiloidelleus bicolor )match those missing from this femaleexcept for the left fore wing. However theslide is so badly made that Girault mayhave lost the fore wing during the slide

I suspect that thepublished dates are in error which wouldmake the females on Stages 1 and 2Syntypes since Girault did not select aHolotype. Riek (1966) incorrectly calledthese Holotype and Paratype, and contaryto what he said, he placed a Paratype labelon the specimen whose head is on the slide.Riek's designation of the male fromCarrathool as an Allotype is invalid and theselection of a Lectotype remains necessary.T.4709 is a duplicate Queensland Museumnumber and is retained for the secondSyntype on QM Stage 2.

NOTES: Tumidicoxa Girault (1911) wasmade a junior synonym of ChakisFabricius (1789) by Girault in 1913. Itappears that Girault originally labelled histypes as Tumidicoxa browningi andomitted to change it after he had decidedupon the above generic synonymy. Hy.3380is retained as the Queensland Museumregister number for the Syntype female ofthis species and the duplicate numberT.4530 for the Syntype male. The QMStage 1 and 2 specimens have data whichmatches the PUBL. DATA, but they maynot be part of Girault's original material. In his unpublished manuscript Girault says,"A female, Darwin, North Australia, G.F.Hill (through A.P. Dodd); also a male".He does not say these were his "Types"and they are intact specimens thereforecannot be associated with the parts on theslide containing parts of the Syntypes.

does not appear on the slide labels.Looking at Girault's unpublishedmanuscript under Gonatocerus hallami Isuspect that Girault has relabelled this slideomitting 2 names (Gonatocerus brunoi,Oligosita anima ) but adding a name for 1of the 3 unidentified specimens. Hisunpublished manuscript says underGonatocerus hallami, "A female, Nelson[ = Gordonvale], Feb. 18, 1912 (Lea andA.A.G.), open forest. This was one of theoriginal specimens of comptei which hasnearly distal 1/2 of the metasoma and thehead black". Hy.I041 is the QueenslandMuseum register number for the Syntypesof Gonatocerus comptei. T.3669 is aduplicate Queensland Museum registernumber for Gonatocerus hallami and hasbeen cancelled; Hy.995 is the QueenslandMuseum register number for the Holotypeof Trichogrammatoidea flava Girault whichoccurs on another slide. I suspect that theHolotype of Oligosita anima Girault is onthis slide. Its Queensland Museum registernumber is Hy.993 and the Hy.995 is anerror. T.3657 is a duplicate QueenslandMuseum register number for Gonatocerusbrunoi and since it is on the slide with thefemale it has been cancelled.
