INSIDE THIS ISSUE:
Mrs Tetley
Our catering staff and Mrs Tetley would like to say how proud they are of all the chil-dren on school dinners for their excellent manners. They had a visitor on Thurs-day who commented on how well-mannered and well be-haved the children were coming through for their lunches, which she doesn't often see in the oth-er schools she visits. Friday Football After School club is now open to Years 5 and 6 as well as 2, 3 and 4. Please sign up at the office.
There is a small charge of £2.50 per child per week to
Dear Parents and Carers,
Congratulations, once again, to our fabulous football team who got through to the 7 a-side semi-finals last night, winning all their match-es! They are playing in Sunderland next week! GOOD LUCK! Great sup-port from our parents. Mr Fisher, our coach, is doing a fine job!
HOMEWORK – We have re-viewed our homework policy and we are focussing very much on basic skills – read-ing of course (every night is the expectation!), spellings and tables/number. How-ever, if you would like more homework you only have to ask!
Do check out our website to see what the children have been getting up to this week! The Year 6 Macbeth work is brilliant! There are pictures of our newly elected School Parliament, Reception and the Billy Goats Gruff. Plus we have Little Kickers, Year 3s visit to the Rising Sun Centre and Year 1 Chestnut becoming scientists! http://winlatonwestlane.org.uk/
I have been observing topic and science lessons this week and saw a fantastic debate in Year 6 who were discussing the pros and cons of Anglo-Saxon crime and punishment compared to 2017! Year 3 have been learning about rocks and Mrs Nugent has enthused the children about Mary Anning, (1799-1847) a self-educated fossil hunter and collector, who was eventually credited with the first discovery of the plesiosaur.
Strange events happening behind Year 5
Was it a bird? Was it a plane? No, it was a Greek God-dess, who came blasting through Elysium into West Lane school. Don’t panic through, the detectives of Year 5 were quick on the case, investigating the crime scene and collecting the evidence. We are now calling for any eyewitnesses who may have seen or heard any-
thing peculiar on Tuesday night.
P.E. KITS – all children need their PE kits in every week.
Parents’ Evening lists will go up next week, please sign
up!
The old £1.00 coin will cease to be legal tender from 15th October 2017 therefore we will no longer accept these at school.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
