ZELINSKY MODEL

• This is the Zelinsky Model of Mobility Transition, it claims that the type of migration that occurs within a country depends on how developed it is or what type of society it is.

• In the Demographic Transition Model (DTM) there is a connection between its stages and migration.

PHASE ONE

• Phase one, Pre-modern Traditional Society, this is right before the beginning of urbanization when there is very little migration and natural increase rates are at zero.

PHASE TWO

• Phase two, Early Transitional Society, There is a large rate of movement from rural to urban areas and there is a rapid rate of natural increase.

PHASE THREE

• Phase three, Late Transitional Society, this is when there is more urban movement in migration than rural to urban movement. These are complex circulatory movements.

PHASE FOUR

Phase four, Advanced Society, there is really only large movements in migration from city to city, this is slight to moderate rate of natural increase.

PHASE FIVE

• Phase five, Future Super advanced Society, almost all residential migration may be of the interurban and intraurban variety. There is a stable morality pattern.
