A million girls would kill for this job

A bit skewed, no?

It can be great, and could be you

But consider the challenges

It was me.

But it can‘t be for everyone

It’s time to abandon the myth

• Small market• Very competitive from start to finish• Finite• There ARE other jobs, and

other fields

If you try, you might be capable of more.

Why not be a CEO? (of another type of company)

Be the change

Stat: Female CEOs make up only 3% of all CEOsin the UK. Same in U.S.(despite taking up 45% ofall managerial jobs, and making up over 30% of each workforcePercentage-wise, the share was already half-waythere in the 1980sMaybe back then, media role models were better*source: Forbes, Newsweek

The way they were...

What‘s stopping us? (Hint: not the kids)

It’s time to ignore these, and make new rules

• Women are not mentored* or socialized to desire top jobs • Male culture (in medicine,

technology, finance, etc) is alienating to women – who don’t like office politics. Or sports.

*source: Journal of Healthcare Management

• Media portrayals: A 2003 study done by Catalyst demonstrated that 43% of women in senior positions felt that the “lack of role models is a significant barrier to advancement.”

Change is coming

Keep the momentum

• Since EU creation in 2000, women have taken up 6 of every 8 jobs created

• 2011: 2.6 M more female students in the U.S. than male (55% of student body)

The Role Models

THEY should be in movies

Heard of these ladies?

Suggestion: Expand the horizons

You’ll be the most fabulous at the office

Consider finance, technology, and science. These are

NOT boring (and you can still wear cute clothes)

And as for those movies...

…they were all directed by men (you could consider directing, too)

Thanks for listening.
