6 REASONS OUR BOOKS FOR WORSHIP SHOULD BECOME ELECTRONIC

1. Practicality

1. Practicality• One tablet can store multiple books in electronic

form.

• It is more convenient to carry 1 tablet to church rather than 3 books:

I. Book of Common Prayer

II. Bible

III. CPWI Hymn Book

2. Youth

2. Youth • Young people can relate to the technology.

• Encourage youths to use our books for worship in electronic form.

• Can help curb the dwindling youth church attendance in our Province.

• Can begin to bridge the generation gap.

3. Presentation Purposes

3. Presentation Purposes

• A growing number of churches are using multimedia equipment to enhance services.

• Our worship books in electronic form will make it easier for presenters to exhibit material using multimedia.

4. Global Reach

4. Global Reach• Anglicans all over the world can access their

books for worship via the internet.

• Our books for worship will be more accessible to a global population (Anglicans and Non-Anglicans alike).

• Anglicanism can spread globally more rapidly.

5. Business Sense

5. Business Sense• The traditional printed books and the electronic

books are not intended to compete against each other.

• Both forms of books are suppose to complement each other.

• They are sold on two different markets. One is sold from bookshelves while the other is sold via the internet.

5. Business Sense• How many people own tablets? • How many Anglicans own tablets?• The use of the electronic form will most likely

become prevalent over a decade. There will still be a viable market for the paper-based books for some time.

• E-books are normally cheaper, however, the cost of the device (tablet or smart phone) makes it more expensive.

5. Business Sense• If marketed in creative ways, the inception of the

E-books can increase the sales of the traditional printed books.

• For example, the E-books can be given free with each purchase of a printed book.

• Marketing for both books are the only way to ensure successful sales to benefit the Province.

6. Opportunity & Times• Presently, we live in times where the

Church is in the midst of technology.• Technology is dominated by worldly

applications.• The Church has the opportunity to inject

something positive into the vast sea of technology.

• Anglicans will be empowered with choice.

6. Opportunity & Times

Conclusion• Rest assured that this topic, if not approved

today will be revisited imminently.

• Why wait until tomorrow to implement something that we can do today?

• E-books are not an investment for the future, it is the Church playing catch up.
