Making a Movie From Your PowerPoint Using Windows Movie Maker

Teachers are recreating their content for use “after” the classroom everyday.

Follow these easy steps to take existing PowerPoints and transform them into movies.

Movies can then be compressed into Podcasts and made available on the web for subscribing.

No need to have PowerPoint on the computer that will view the movie.

Podcasts can also be synced with an iPod or similar device and made port-able.

Walk down the red carpet with me and let’s get started!

Why make a movie from your Powerpoint?

Podcasts from Teacher Content—Made Easy!

Open up Microsoft PowerPoint

Check your slides for order, content and de-sign. Remember, since this will be a movie, your narration can be added in the movie soft-ware to help describe a slide.

Save As a JPEG file format

Click on Every Slide to be saved as a JPEG

All slides have been saved in a folder of your location

Open up Windows Movie Maker

Import pictures to work bin

Place images on timeline

Add narration or music Under Tools select Narrate Timeline

Record narration and save it.

Save as a movie file

Under Publish to select This Computer

Give your file a name and location to save to

Choose the set-tings for your movie—I think the default set-tings work great!

This takes the longest! Wait for your movie to be compressed to the setting you specified.

Your movie will now play in Windows Media Player.

It also can now be com-pressed into a QuickTime file using compression software not found in Windows Movie Maker.
