BARS Community Promotion

Noticing that the area between the ‘Roo Suites and the Bryan apartments (Figure 1),

as well as the area between the Bryan Apartments and ‘Roo Suites F

Building (Figure 2) are places where students could potentially congregate

and socialize, while also

Noting with regret that the area depicted by Figure 1 has no such fixtures and that the picnic

and grill area in Figure 2 is uninviting, and

Aware that “an Austin College education emphasizes…participation in

community life,”1 while also

Noting that more students would be inclined to utilize the space if it possessed

more welcoming fixtures and provided a more comfortable experience,

Be it Resolved that the Student Assembly purchase the following items:

1. Two bench swings at a cost of $1,014.00 per bench for a total of

$2,028.00 for both benches.

Figure 2 Area

1. One bench at a cost of $394.00.

2. One metal trash bin at a cost of $618.00.

3. One picnic table at a cost of $705.00.
