IntroductionThe SimScale 3D online simulation platform helps engineers build better products in a shorter period of time.• The user uploads a CAD model to the platform.• Preprocessing is done with complete workflow and 3D
interaction.• Simulation is set up via an intuitive user interface.• Post-processing: Results can be processed and evaluated in
3D.• The user can validate and modify the design based on the
simulation results.SimScale supports numerous simulation types, including:- Solid Mechanics / FEA- Fluid Dynamics / CFD- Thermodynamics- Acoustics - Particle Analysis

Introduction (continued)Users can interactively work together with colleagues, clients, partners, and industry experts.• Get started with little or no Computer-aided Engineering
(CAE) experience; our users range from students to experienced professionals.
• SimScale is “crowdsourcing” simulation knowledge and making it accessible for everyone. Already more than 10 000 simulation projects are publicly available, serving as templates for your simulations.
Competitive advantages• SimScale provides pay-as-you-go prices dramatically
lower than existing products, and provides publicly-available projects free of charge.
• Completely web-based – no local hardware necessary, scalable and on-demand.
• The SimScale platform is a solid simulation environment.

Finite Element Analysis (Structural Analysis)
Stress analysis in your web browser
SimScale © 2016
Welcome to SimScale SimScale © 2016
Finite Element Analysis (Structural Mechanics)Why structural simulation?OptimizeUse simulation to optimize your design:• Reduce wall thickness• Prevent stress peaks and material failures• Predict displacements and dynamic behaviors
UnderstandIn contrast to physical experiments – which are severely limited by the measured value acquisition – simulation enables an unrestricted observation of all physical quantities in a model. This makes it possible to not only gather, but understand the test results.• Investigate force fluxes• Figure out critical features and reduce complexity• Identify fundamental eigenmodes
ProveWith the use of simulation, you are able to convince your customers and suppliers of the functionality of your products. Moreover, you can precisely support the development of these products with data and analysis.• Validate experimental results• Compare design variations• Conduct parametric studies

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)Why Flow simulation?OptimizeUse simulation to optimize your design:• Reduce pressure drops• Homogenize flow• Improve laminar and turbulent mixing
UnderstandIn contrast to physical experiments which are massively limited by the measured value acquisition, simulation enables an unrestricted observation of all physical quantities in a model. This makes it possible to not only gain but also understand test results.• Locate flow separations• Investigate transient effects• Identify physical interactions
ProveWith the use of simulation, you can precisely support product development with data and analysis.• Validate experimental results• Run parametric studies• Structural coupling

Welcome to SimScale SimScale © 2016
ThermodynamicsWhy Thermal simulation?Optimize• Improve cooling effects• Identify optimal materials• Foresee thermal expansion and conduct a thermal stress
analysis
Understand• Investigate temperature distribution• Comprehend thermomechanical coupling• Track heat fluxProve• Validate experimental results• Compare steady-state and transient• Investigate energy loss and thermodynamics

Welcome to SimScale SimScale © 2016
Open SourceOpenFOAM®OpenFOAM® is a toolbox for solving complex Computational Fluid Dynamics problems. It contains a wide range of physical models (including turbulence, wall treatment, thermodynamics and mass transport), numerical methods and tools for pre- & post-processing. Developed at the Imperial College in London, OpenFOAM® offers impressive accuracy and is extensively validated in academic and industrial environments. It is continuously being developed and expanded by a large community of scientists, experts, and industrial customers, ensuring rapid implementation of new technologies. As a result, OpenFOAM® has recently replaced several commercial codes.
Code_AsterCode_Aster is an open source software package for simulation in structural mechanics, including fatigue, damage, fracture, contact, geomaterials, porous media and multi-physics coupling. It was originally developed by EDF as an in-house application for safety-related simulations in nuclear energy environment. The software has been evaluated through independent comparisons in regards to analytical and experimental results, and was benchmarked against commercial codes.

Security – How we protect your data
Encrypted data during upload and download. When data is transferred to or from the SimScale platform, it is protected with industry standard encryption technology.
Encrypted CAD and simulation data.We exclusively use AES encrypted hard drives on our servers as well as in external data centers to ensure highest data security.Security is an integral part of the SimScale philosophy. Two full time employees of our IT staff focus solely on data and platform security.
Secured password.Your password is not stored in plain text but only as salted hash. That is, in a form that makes it impractical for anyone to find out your password even with access to our database.
As stated in our terms and conditions, we will not sell, trade or give away your CAD or simulation data.
Backup on multiple encrypted servers. We protect your data by redundantly backing it up to multiple encrypted backup servers.
