History of CVHS

• Started in 1957 – Combined East Lampeter and Upper Leacock High Schools.

Mission Statement

• To educate all students to be competent, caring, and contributing citizens in an ever-changing global community.

Vision Statement

• To develop the maximum potential of every individual.

PSSA TESTING

• Spring of Junior year.• Students who are not proficient will retake the

PSSA in October of their Senior year.• Students will take 4Sight tests three times

during their 9th and 10th grade years to ensure they are making the necessary progress.

• Specially designed interventions.

KEYSTONE EXAMS

• Starting this school year students in Algebra 1 and Biology will take the Keystone exam at the end of the class.

• Over the next two years Keystone exams will be added for every core subject.

• Students not passing the Keystone exam will not pass the class.

• 1/3 of class grade.

Finals• End of the semester test for core

classes.• Occurs at the end of every

semester.• Many formats.

Credits• The unit of measurement for

successfully completing a classes requirements.• 1 marking period = .5 credit• 2 marking period = 1 credit

A Day in the life of a CVHS Student

Before School

• All students entering the building should report to the Cafeteria or their 1st block class.– Bus riders will enter the main entrance– Parent drop off will be at the Rill gym or Witmer

annex entrance– Student drivers will enter the Rill tennis court

entrance.– All students should immediately enter the

building, do not loiter outside.

Cafeteria – Breakfast offerings

• Breakfast must be purchased as a meal package. NO ala carte will be offered. Breakfast is over at 7:38 A.M.

• Breakfast cost: $1.25 and $.25 for reduced meal plans.

• All payments for debit accounts must be in the mailbox by 9:00 A.M. If they are placed there after that time, the deposit will not take affect until the next day.

No Passbook, No Travel

• You will need your passbook to go anywhere. • If you do not have your passbook you will not

be allowed to leave the classroom.• Penalties• Replacement - $5• Write your name on every page.

Cell Phones and Devices

• Students are not permitted to use an electronic device during school hours unless directed by a teacher or school administrator.

• Use of a cell phone includes, but is not limited to, communicating with others using the cell phone, texting, taking pictures, video recording, audio recording, or accessing or attempting to access the internet.

Discipline Options

• First Violation – Confiscation, returned to student at the end of the day.

• Second Violation – Confiscated, returned to parent and suspension for unmodified behavior.

• Subsequent offenses are considered a level 3 offense and may result in suspension.

Acceptable Use Policy

• No USB (flash, thumb, gig stick) devices are permitted.

• Students will be assigned a web locker accessible from school and home.

• Use of the internet is limited to appropriate school related activities.

• The acceptable use policy is in the student handbook.

Lockers

• Every student is given a locker and a lock.• It is their locker and lock for the next four years.• If the lock is missing at the end of the year, it is a

five dollar fine.• Lockers are to be locked at all times.

Dress Code Violations

• Failure to follow the dress code will result in a change of clothes.

• If you refuse to change your clothes, you will be sent home with a parent or guardian.

• 1st offense – sent to office, change of dress required.• 2nd offense – sent to office, requested to change

clothes, and discipline consequences.• 3rd offense - sent to office, requested to change

clothes, and discipline consequences.
