Sabre tooth tigers (two different types) did exist in Germany (all of Europe, actually) until roughly 12,000 years ago. These tigers would have been around when the work of art to the right was created. Additionally, there was a sabre toothed hyenas and cave lions roaming the area. Cave lions were 25% bigger than our modern day lions."What our genetic evidence shows is that these ancient extinct lions and the lions of today were very closely related. Meanwhile, cave art suggests that they formed prides, although the males appear not to have had manes.“
