Testwood’sCelebration of

World Book Day:

Monday 3rd March-Friday 7th March 2015

What is World Book Day?

• World Book Day is a celebration! It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading.

• In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and celebrated in over 100 countries all over the world.

• Thanks to the generosity of National Book Tokens Ltd, publishers and booksellers, every student at Testwood will receive a book token with which you can buy a book for £1

Last year…

Book Aid International

• Book Aid International is a charity dedicated to increasing access to books and libraries in sub-Saharan Africa and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

• Since 1954, they have sent more than 31 million books to over 3,000 libraries.

• In 2014, Book Aid International shipped over one million books to Africa.

A thank you from Book Aid International

How are we celebrating W B D this year?

• Taking part in Oxfam’s ‘message in a book’ campaign (letters in tutor bags – books to be brought to E6)

• Year 7/8 English lessons focussed on WBD

• Tutor time quiz – prizes for the winning tutor group!

But… why?

….because every book will teach you something!

….the importance

of making the right

choices in our lives

…the importance of an impressive opening

….the importance of love and sacrifice

…the importance of how

to get on in life!

Let’s crunch some numbers…

So what does this tell us…?
