Why do we need
to know
Jesus?
Jesus: He was standing by the lake of Gennesaret;
Crowd: crowd was pressing around Him and listening to the word of God
He sat down and began teaching"
Jesus said: "Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch."Peter’s Response: "Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing,
Peter’s Response:…but I will do as You say and let down the nets."
ARGUED FIRST BEFORE HE OBEYED JESUS
Why did he argued first before he obeyed Jesus?1. It was not the right time to
catch fist (daytime). 2. They spent the whole night
fishing yet they caught nothing3. He has a limited understanding
of Jesus.
He has a limited understanding of Jesus.
“MASTER” is equivalent with “RABBI,” which
means “teacher.”
Peter felt, he is a loser even before he began. Have you ever been defeated?
28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 11:29 Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 11:30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and my load is not hard to carry.” Matthew 11:28-30
Surrender that pain to Jesus and trust him fully for the result. He can give you freedom from your past.
Peter’s Response: when Simon Peter saw that, he fell down at Jesus' feet"
What was his realization when he saw the great catch of fish?
Peter realized the power of Jesus that leads him to addressed Jesus as “Lord.”
MASTER + LORDPeter’s knowledge of Jesus grew, and fully understood that he is not only a master but also as Lord.
Peter personally experienced Jesus and was able to see the great manifestation of His power over the nature
“My ear had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore, I despised myself and repent in dust and ashes.”
Job 42:5-6
“When we see Jesus more clearly we also see ourselves more clearly. His beauty exposes our flaws; His perfection reveals our sinfulness. Man’s first reaction to such a revelation is often, “go away.” But only by coming to Jesus can we find forgiveness for our sins and inner personal renewal.” Richards, L. O
Peter’s Response: He was afraid of
JesusJesus said: Don’t be afraid, from now on you will catch men
..v.4b "Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch."
v. 10b And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not fear, from now on you will be catching men."
