Valleys on Oyama flank

Long/lat:From 340.53E, 24.23Nto 340.80E, 23.90N

Rational: Several gullies/valleys have cut into the flank of Oyama.Sediments deposited in these gullies may be of utmost interest in the concentration and preservation of possible organic matter.

Morphology & mineralogy: Many short, ~straight parallel valleys go towards Oyama floor. They are partly inverted, with dark material filling (similar to the dark cap) and light toned rocks in the eroded intervalley space. The dark material filling the small valleys is possibly basaltic sand. The light-toned rocks underneath mainly bear Al-phyllosilicates.

MSL tasks: At large scale, seek possible sediments exposed in the valleys. At small scale, study the grain structure, the mineralogy and chemistry of the rocks on valley floors.
