English educational project «United for Ukraine: together we will make a change»

Created for ages 16-17 Time required for the project: 6

weeks Interdisciplinary connections: English, History, Computer Science,

Sociology

A Brief Description of the Project and Expected Results Educational project «United for Ukraine: together we

will make a change» is for 11 form students. They will start with the investigation of the historical steps on the

way to the independent and united Ukraine, explore about Ukrainian natural beauty, wonders and famous

people. Student are going to find out if it is important to be united to change the situation in the country. They will

learn about the role of Ukraine in the world, search the information in the Internet and conduct surveys. Also students will create timeline, advertising scrap-album,

report and video-slogans. They are going to present their results on the blog. Students will be able to evaluate

each other and themselves.

Learning Objectives: to develop basic lexical, grammar, stylistic, speaking and writing

skills to deepen the knowledge and understanding of the Ukrainian

place in the world, to develop 21 century skills: collaboration, critical thinking,

problem solving, creating a situation of success for every student, creativity and ability to modify, developing and analyzing problems, establishing cross-cultural connections with students from other countries.

Content Questions : Where is Ukraine situated? What do you know about its famous

places? Is Ukraine a rich country? What are the typical Ukrainian features

of character?

Teacher`s Activity demonstrates the video «United

Ukraine Southeastward» to motivate students,

conducts online survey ``How much of Ukraine do you know?``and finds out the level of knowledge on the topic,

makes her own presentation of project with Key, Thematic and Content Questions,

posts all the materials on the website http://natasha.in.ua/

Students` Activity discuss the topic of the

project, work with teacher`s

presentation, make 5 groups.

Group «Advertisers» explores the things that Ukraine can

present to other countries

Group «Sociologists» conducts an online interview : 1. ``What is better: to be united or not?2. ``Is our world united?`` analyzes and presents the results

and what Ukrainians are going to do for a bright future of the Motherland

creates video-slogans ``Join our country citizens` initiative of the unity``
