FINANCIAL SYSTEMSFINANCE BI – QUICK START GUIDE

Objective:

This guide explains how to access and utilize Finance BI. The topics include how to: Sign in Navigate the homepage Access dashboards Run reports Export reports

Sign In

1. Open Internet Explorer, and use the following link to open the sign-on screen for Finance BI:

https://financebi.mcit.med.umich.edu/analytics/saw.dll?bieehome

2. At the sign-in screen, enter your unique name and Level One (Kerberos) password.

3. After signing in successfully, the following homepage will be displayed:

Navigating the Homepage:

Help contains useful guides and documentation to help you get acquainted with Oracle BI.

All dashboards are accessible from the homepage. There are three sections on the home page that

allow access to reports.

The “Home” Section returns you to the home page

The “Sign out” section logs you out of Finance BI

Dashboard is a collection of reports located on separate tabs.

Report is an individual tab within a dashboard.

The three sections to navigate dashboards and reports:

The “Most Popular” section displays the most commonly viewed reports across the institution.

The “Recent” section displays dashboards recently viewed by you

Please note: If you do not see the Payroll Dashboards, you do not have Payroll access. Instructions to

request payroll access are located here:

Tabs

Filters

Report filters are used to customize a report view. Each report will have the limit of Fiscal Year and

Fiscal Month and may have other available filters. Required fields are identified by an *

Header:

Each Tab is a unique report

within a dashboard

Filters with down arrows, allow you to select values from a list.

Boxes with no down arrow are text boxes and you

“Apply” starts the query

“Reset” provides 3

options.

Narrative:

This filter section of the report shows the limits used above.

Some reports have a view selector; these allow you to change the level of data.

Link to another report for reference purposes. The reference dashboard will open in a new window.

Report Body:

The detail information returned from the query.

Clicking in the light blue font enables the drilldown function.

Click on the down arrow to see the available views.

Printing and Exporting:

On the top right hand side of the screen, options to print or export the report are available. These

control printing of the PAGE, where the options at the bottom of an analysis, are for the analysis only.

Click on one of the selections launches

On the bottom of the report, the options available are:

Analyze is used to modify the report. This is an advanced funtion and should be used with caution.
