Dear Parents,
On the weekend I was down at the local park with two of my children, Jack and Tom. When it was time to leave the boys asked me if they could walk
home for the first time by themselves. Whilst we weren’t that far away from where we live their journey involved crossing roads and negotiating a few
different streets.
My immediate thought process was that I was going to say no and take them in the car. However, once I thought further about their request I reminded
myself that my wife and I have been consistently talking to them about road safety, being responsible and looking after each other. I was presented with a
real opportunity for them to demonstrate this to me.
An enormous pleasure of parenting is watching your children learn, develop and grow. One of the most difficult tasks as a parent is getting the balance
right between protecting your children and allowing them the opportunity to learn from experiences with an acceptable amount of risk. If we over protect our children we can actually be hampering their growth. Real learning involves
challenge and taking risks.
Take a minute to consider how you feel when you are in your comfort zone; safe, relaxed, not challenged, going through the motions. Now reflect upon
how you feel when you are out of your comfort zone; alert, active, challenged, stimulated, excited, energised, a little stressed, curious, just to name a few.
When you travel along in your comfort zone not much is happening, conversely, when you are out of your comfort zone you are most definitely in
your learning zone.
As parents and educators of our children our role is to create a safety net so that our children have the opportunity to survive and then thrive out of their
comfort zone. In order to assist them we need to be there to support them
and talk them through the different experiences of life, not shield them away.
An analogy might be when you are teaching your child to ride a bike. At some
stage you have to take the training wheels off and let go of the bike. You know that there is a real risk that they may fall, however, you will help them get back up, talk them through what went wrong, give them the strategies
required, build up their confidence again and support them to have another go. The joy then comes as the smile engulfs their face and they have the
wonderful satisfaction of learning and achieving.
As for Jack and Tom they got home safe and sound, very proud of their efforts to be responsible and walk home by themselves. Completely unaware that
Dad was following along several hundred metres back just keeping them in
view!
ARRIVAL TIME
I remind parents that students are not to be arriving at school before 8.30am
as the teachers are not on duty. Prior to 8.30am the staff are busy preparing
for the day or in meetings.

BLINGO
This Saturday night the Parents and Friends are holding their BLINGO (Bingo with bling) night in the
hall, 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. It is not too late to organise a ticket, you can either book a table of eight or just come along and you will be organised onto a table. A big thanks to the Parents and
Friends Committee for the amount of effort they have put into the organisation and preparation.
Further details are contained within this newsletter.
GRADES 1 AND 2 ZOO EXCURSION
Unfortunately due to the inclement forecast for today and tomorrow we have had to postpone the
Grades 1 and 2 excursions to the Zoo. Whilst this is disappointing for everyone the decision was
made for the best interests of the children. The excursions will now take place in week nine of Term
Three (7th- 11th of September). The exact days are still to be confirmed. Hopefully we will be luckier
with the weather!

Simon Dell'Oro

This week it was the Grade ones turn to work with the iPad Cart
and myself. We used the time to use an app called Chatterpix, the students all brought in a favourite toy and took a photo of this
toy using the app they then recorded themselves reading a story and then merged the two so it looks like their toy is reading the story. We also explored how to use the iPads, various apps on the
iPad including Lego apps, drawing apps, Math and English apps .
We had a great time.

WET WEATHER As the school grounds are very muddy after all the rain we have had, a lot of children are
coming in after falling over covered in mud. Could you please pack a spare uniform
(especially for the middle and senior grades) as we do not have the larger sizes in sick bay,
otherwise we will have to give you a call for some dry clothes to be dropped in to the school.
Thanks for your help in this matter.
Items in bold type will be
school closure days or
extremely important dates.
SCHOOL CALENDAR blue will indicate new
items added to the

TRINITY CAR PARK For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all
drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You
are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into
the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOT a meeting area.
The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the
oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the
Pick-up Zone ONLY.
The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK
-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDING zones. If your
children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end
of the pick-up queue.
There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park. All
vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
THE GATES CLOSE AT 9.00am AND RE-OPEN AT
3.00pm. Occasionally they might re-open slightly later due to school activities.
Thank you for your patience and consideration of others.

FATHER’S DAY BREAKFAST THIS YEAR IS FRIDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER IN THE HALL. Dads, Grandpas and
special friends of children at Trinity can enjoy breakfast together on the Friday before Father’s Day in the
school Hall from 7.30am. The Breakfast consists of sausages, bacon, eggs and toast cooked by volunteer helpers
beginning at 6.30am. (Unlike the Mother’s Day Breakfast there is no Coffee van.) Please complete and return the
below form if you wish to attend this event. There is Mass following at 9am in the Multi-purpose room which is
offered for all our Fathers. The cost is $5.00 per adult and $5.00 per child. The cut-off date is definitely
Monday 31st August this year because I am on a “Seasons for Parents” course on the Tuesday and
Wednesday of this week and will have no time for last minute shopping after that Monday.
The Craft Group is growing! And you are invited to add to our number. Just come along to the Playroom on a
Wednesday from 1pm until pick-up time and help us create for the Parish Fete on Saturday 7th November and
then for the Mother’s day stall in 2016.
Next weekend we continue to read the Bread of Life chapter from John’s Gospel. We are getting deeper into
John’s theology of Jesus as THE Bread of life, and if you notice carefully in the text Jesus says: “this is the bread
that has come down from heaven”… it is ME IN WHOM YOU ARE TO BELIEVE! LORD HELP ME TO
BELIEVE IN YOU.
