Local Sustainable Transport Fund

Nottingham Urban Area partnership:• Key component = £5 million secured• Large scale bid = £11 million business case submitted

Key elements:– Smartcard integration– Community Travel Hubs– Active travel partnerships incl. Ucycle/GNTP/Community cycling

package incl. schools, events programme– Development of low carbon transport network (incl. cycling,

electric vehicle infrastructure, car club)

Nottingham Station Hub

• £70m partnership project • Interchange for train, tram, bus,

taxis, cycling• Multi-storey car park works due to

complete May 2012• Main station works to start summer

2012• Major signal and trackwork

upgrading summer 2013• All works complete November 2014

NET Phase 2

• Final Government approval in Dec 2012

• Tramlink Consortium to design, build and operate

• Site clearance and utility works have started

• System capacity to double to 20m passengers per year

• Further 2,500 P&R spaces• New lines to open in 2014

Quality Bus Network

Planned further investment:• £5m Better Bus Areas Bid to extend Statutory Bus Quality

Partnership Scheme along high frequency bus corridors• £1.7m Green Bus Fund Bid supporting £4.6m investment

in 19 hybrid diesel electric buses (third of Linkbus fleet)• 8 electric CentreLink buses to enter service in the spring• Bus stop infrastructure incl. real time information

Workplace Parking Levy• The Workplace Parking Levy (WPL) is a

charge on employers with more than 10 commuter parking spaces located within the City of Nottingham

• Local contributions to:- NET Phase 2- Station Hub- Link bus network

Milestones:1st October 2011 – Scheme in force and employers

legally obliged to hold a licence (no charge)

1st April 2012 – WPL charging to commence

• Business support- Travel planning advice and support- Car park management- Bespoke public transport information packages- Cycling promotion package

A453 widening M1 to Nottingham

Latest position:• £160m funding announced in

Autumn Statement• Awaiting statement from

Secretary of State on scheme orders and outcome of public inquiry

• Integration with NET Phase 2 through 1,000 space P&R

• Construction to start this year• Completion by 2015

Ring Road Major Scheme

Components:• Junction improvements• Selective widening• New crossings• Bus interchange facilities• Cycle route upgrade

Investment = £16m

High Speed Rail

• Proposed Y network endorsed including stop serving the East Midlands with Line to Birmingham by 2024 and extensions by 2032

• Engagement on extensions from Autumn 2012

• Detailed consultation expected in 2014
