ROGERS PARK -- From Charmers to Towbar to something else: The popular Jarvis Square cafe spothas a new owner and eventually will have a new name.

Chris Casas, 44, of Evanston, has become the managing partner at Towbar. Former owners SandraCarter and Jamie and Debbie Evans are taking a backseat at the wine bar and cafe.

Casas said he has plans to adjust the menu at 1500 W. Jarvis Ave. and eventually change the cafe'sname.

"I'm gonna re-brand it," Casas said Monday. "It's got great bones -- and I'm not going to changethat."

Charmers Cafe closed in 2013.

Casas also owns coffee roasting company Coffee Speed Shop, which roasts beans for restaurants, hotels and offices. He co-owns Evanston's La Macchina Cafe. He said he would be "aiming for thesame feel" as La Macchina in Jarvis Square.

Casas also operated a chain of cafes in Chicago and Evanston, called Italian Coffee Bar, whichclosed in 2009.

The Evanses own The Peckish Pig on Howard Street and serve Casas' coffee there.

Casas said Towbar would remain open as final details are set for the new cafe.
