Joomla 1.5 strengths

• Easy installation and interface• Straightforward site and template

configuration with no knowledge of PHP/MySQL

• Thousands of 3rd party extensions easily installed

Joomla 1.5 weaknesses

• Poor access control lists (ACL), only available by 3rd party extension

• No multi-site management, only available by 3rd party extension

• No core CCK (several 3rd party extensions)

Joomla 1.6 Strengths

• Nested categories make structuring a site more intuitive

• ACL is powerful and flexible• New templating system means

more options for designers• Better language support• Better SEO features

Joomla 1.6 Weaknesses

• ACL is difficult to understand and configure

• Still no multisite management features in core (by extension only)

• Still no CCK in core (by extension only)

• Extensions still catching up with the new version
