Vol. XVIII No. 2
This is my
commandment
that you
one another
as I have
loved you.
John 15:12
FROM THE DESK OF
Pastor Ed February 2015
In the next few months I plan to use this column as a forum to talk about what it means to be Presbyterian. We are governed by a Book of Order, which lays out the principles of the Presbyterian Church.
One of the principles of government is mutual forbearance. There are certain things on which we must agree. However we will differ in opinion on other things. Diversity of thought is something Presbyterians have treasured from the beginning. We are called to treat one another with respect in our diversity.
As I was pondering this idea of mutual forbearance I started thinking about the LEAP.
Most Tuesday afternoons we have an after school program we call The LEAP (The Lord’s Extra Amazing Power). One of the things we have tried to teach the kids is mutual respect. LEAP is governed by the three B’s :
Be Safe Be Respectful Be Responsible
That seems to me to be like mutual forbearance. In particular, we are called to be respectful in our diversity. There are many things in which we might dis-agree, but we should always disagree with respect and re-sponsibility. Have a safe February (one of the three B’s). *Smile*
Have a Blessed Day, Pastor Ed

Endless Buzz February 2015
Many of our LOOP and LANDING students gathered at the beginning of January to view the movie, God’s NOT Dead. It was an awesome film involving some students who were faced to decide what it is that they believe and how to be courageous in their faith! One of the quotes between a pastor in the film and a missionary was, “God is good…all the time. All the time…God is good!” This quote brings a smile to my face. No matter the situation, good or bad, I hope you can agree with me, God is good all the time!
We have begun what Pastor Jim said to me many years ago, a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal!). With 27 students registered to attend two summer camps, The Great Escape in Green Lake, Wisconsin (students in grades 6-7) and Student Life in Cleveland, Tennessee (students in grades 8-12), we have many funds to raise before June! Recently when that goal appeared a bit out of reach, I was reminded God is good all the time! My personal prayer time has become my source of fuel. Again I smile because this was our LEAP lesson with our younger children in early January (Worship & prayer give us FUEL for the road). Only God can make all things happen for the good, which He always does!
As I mentioned, we have an awesome group of excited teens eager to work hard in the months ahead and seeking your support! Please come out on Saturday, February 28 and enjoy a delicious Pancake Breakfast and be on the lookout for additional opportunities for fellowship and connections to youth!
Not only are wonderful activities taking place with our older students, but our young LEAPsters will be busy in the month of February creating special gifts of love for our friends at Le Roy Manor. Once the Valen-tines are completed a time of fellowship has been arranged for our church children to hand deliver these gifts. This opportunity will provide our LEAP children a way to share God’s love and blessings with others!

JANUARY ATTENDANCE
By Janice Trachsel February 2015
The LEFT BEHIND book series is located on the bookshelf on the
West wall in the library. If you haven’t read them they are well
worth your time and put a lot of things in a modern, very believable
story. I think you would enjoy reading them while studying
Revelation.
Another book I want to mention is DEADLINE by Randy Alcorn.
He is a prolific Christian writer who also wrote HEAVEN (also in
the library). DEADLINE is the first of a trilogy and is a fiction
mystery. If you are a mystery reader, try it and let us know how
you enjoyed it.
There are a few Valentine books for children on the table.
Happy Reading
