Anandavanam Garden of Peace, Bliss & Harmony

(18-01-93) When I stepped first into the garden, I did not see nor believe in seeing the plants and all that. I felt that whatever is going to be given to me by the God for the rest of the living of my life, the choice must be of the

Lord. When I invoked my Master, he appeared before me clearly face to face. Immediately I put a triangle of three stones and said this will be the temple. In other words, God is not installed there. He had come already to protect the area from being trampled. I constructed a small temple. What ever image is put there, He illumines it. Lakshmi, Subramanya or Ganesha anything can be put, He illumines it. So, I go round and round that point. In other words God is accompanying us. Where ever we go, He comes along with us, behind us, before us, ahead of us, following us and protecting us both from all sides.

This place is where there are no rules. Every one of the inmates are totally free. There are no rules imposed!

10

Those who seek instructions shall be given. There are four ‘Paras’ which have defined Indian way of life…

In boyhood you learn

In mid step of your life, when you are youthful and energetic you rightfully enjoy the fruits of your earnings.

Enjoyment shall be in conformity with Dharma. Dharma is righteousness, appropriateness. If the crow is black, it is his Dharma. It is appropriate to its Dharma. For this reason, Dharma changes from place to place and time to time. So, in conformity with Dharma one should live and enjoy life.

In old age, one should live a hermit’s life, leaving all pleasures, keeping all the comforts that are necessary for a peaceful living “Munivruthi”. By

practice of Yoga one should be able to leave this body voluntarily and deliberately.

This Ashram (Anandavanam) is a small experiment in that 3rd stage, living in a forest or a garden in a secluded place, living with all minimum comforts without putting the body for any

hardships but certainly not depending on the pleasure beyond our needs. One

11

is free to practice anything. Spiritual practices are many in number, thousands of paths, different persons initiated in different paths, follow their respective paths of practice and live in a common community way! All people are leading their normal routine life, no rules of starvation, and no rules of feeding. They enjoy good freedom

about their paths of practice. The community life is totally harmonious!

Yoga Ganapathi is installed at Anandavanam. It is for the people who practice Yoga and elevate themselves beyond body consciousness!

Chant “Om Gum Ganapathiye Namah”

On Guruji himself

Master the peerless teacher is a wonder of wonders. He is always steeped in silence and he is a ceaseless talker! What he has spoken so far would be more than all the oceans. Out of this what he has spoken on him would be but a few drops. As a man he is self effacing. As the Master of course, he is

the SELF. Always ascribing everything to God or great saints, it is very rare that he speaks about himself and that too, never in public.

One can fill up the seas and fill in the entire space but it is impossible to write about him. He is in an ever elusive reality. One is sure to get thoroughly exhausted in the attempt to describe him. He would remain full and complete, calm and simple after a thousand such attempts. What ever is expressed of him is nothing but the tremendous impact he has had on that

particular individual. A spark from a forest fire! The eternal giver is never in need of anything, from anyone, anywhere. Essentially unbound, he submits himself to the vagaries of destiny and the play of Samsara, without ever being touched. He is God Himself but he looks meek before lesser beings. He operates

His body from far above but he allows

13

sickness and pain to enjoy his physical frame. He possesses nothing. Everything belongs to Him naturally, as a rule. No one can be more ordinary than Him. Mr. Non-particular, the biggest NOTHING, is some of the strange terms used on Himself. Nothing can describe Him. Nothing can prevent Him from stealing your heart and soul, in broad day light and he would make you feel thankful to him for this

total loss! Master is the alphabet and the ultimate in one! His is the last word and the lasting word! In Him, one is finished. That is what inner finish is all about.

I do not lift a pebble without the command of my Master. I am accountable before the Master

I have no profile. I do not want to be framed up or framed in!

I am alone but not lonesome!

The more you grow, the merrier I grow.

My temple is in the jungle. But I do not have to clear the forest. I stand guard at the temple. That would suffice.

14

Fighting evil is an endless affair. No wise man will waste time over it. I will protect my people. That’s all about it.

No one is un-special to me! Pure love is my nature!

Fear, hatred, I have never known what they are! I speak from nothing. ‘I’

address ‘YOU’. I permeate.

The moment that nobody comes to me for a week, asking for help, I feel sick. What sin have I committed that no one has come and asked for such a thing. I lose my appetite. I don’t feel hungry!

I am a wall. I am immune to understanding and misunderstanding.

Everyone else has a choice with me. So, I have no choice.

Attachment with warmth. Attachment without bondage. That is how God has given me. That is my design, probably.

I am available!

You are living in creation, I am living the creation!

15

To the Disciple The Master teaches not only though his words but also through his silence. Messages emanate from his looks, closed eyes, a surprise pat, a deliberate indifference and a heart warming caress. As the sun cannot avoid shedding light, so is the teaching with the Master. When his very life is impersonal,

divine mission, it is but natural that every movement of his radiates a message, every moment. The Master is the first one to greet and enquire about the welfare. There after he is quite. There is no response without a query from then on. There is no response structure in him. Your thirst is your capacity! Your mode is a matter of your choice. Silence, prayer, conversation, meditation, and service – you are free to choose any and any number. He may not talk to you, he may not notice your presence, he may not remember your name, he may ‘park himself in the threshold of consciousness’ in a manner of sleep, but, his response is the same. It depends on the intensity of your need and the depth of your faith. Why, His picture or just his remembrance responds equally effectively. The result that you seek is equal to your effort. He is here, there and everywhere, in and out, for ever.

16

The disciple has to understand and follow him. It is a tall order alright but what else has the disciple got to do? Who is he trying to impress, through his so called Sadhana which are but childish ‘workouts’ of an inconsistent teenager? Where is the position in the scheme of things? Where is his place in the Guru? May the disciple realize that the Master only knows him too well and

there is no need for him to convey anything about him to him. May he also know that the Master that he knows is the eternal unknown, the forever tip of the iceberg, the proverbial horizon. The window opens in to the sky but is the sky only the size of the window? Yet, he must understand and follow? Installing the Master in the heart begins the process. Here, love gives the initiative. Imbibing his teachings is the next step. Here, humility and constant willingness are the co-ordinates. Wisdom is the consequence. A clever release of the disciple’s karma by the Master provides the opportunity to apply the wisdom and embellish. Every fall is succeeded by a rise. Stability dawns. The acquired ‘wisdom becomes’ the nature of the disciple. There again, he has to wait. The depth of the ocean is fathomable but what that of the sky? At every point of completion, the disciple understands the incomprehensible enormity of the Master, the

17

growthless wonder, the ‘biggest nothing’, the untouched finality. The unmistakable glint of mischief in the smile of the Master enhances the wonder of the disciple. What is he up to, now? Well, the untouched decides to touch the disciple. That is all. The tiny seed that he is, blasts itself in to a vast expanse of endlessness. The disciple is lost. The Guru is not seen. There

is nothing to be known. There is none else. The sweet smile of the Master remains a faint but perceptible memory. The experience is witnessed too. This is the ultimate miracle. Therefore, he alone is the Master whose nature it is to perform this. Him alone should the disciple seek! So, the Master is the most open secrets, the most obvious solution and the most available relief. All that the disciple has to do is to seek him always and always remember that he knows not the Master and always believe that he would take him into him. He does not appoint disciples. He claims them! It is revealed in silence. He who is a disciple knows that he is a disciple, not by surmise, never through inference but as a matter of direct knowledge. The king’s son knows that he is a prince. Coronation is for others to know! It is not the crown that seeks

18

but the king’s lap. The disciple knows who he is and what he is going to become. When? That is left to the Master alone.

Do not propose anything in your mind. Do not entertain any expectations. I hope your search ends here.

You can always start from wherever you

are with whatever you know.

Take me as your father or an elderly uncle. The son has every right to put his foot on father’s chest. As a father, I am interested in your physical health and material comfort. Then follows spiritual progress. There is no problem about it.

Father’s property belongs to son.

No one changes because he was asked

to. Telling people about do’s and mostly don’ts is a waste of time. The most effective way is to get behind you and enter you, like a devil. God is more effective when he plays the devil!

Here, in our school change follows the result!

Formal instruction is a great hindrance to the disciple’s progress. In trying to

19

pay attention, the disciple remains at tension. Initiation is not an event but it is a culmination of a subtle process known only to the Master.

Consciousness is subtle, all powerful and all pervasive. I can enter you through each and every sweet pore, without you being aware of it.

I do not see whether you are a male or a female, white or black. YOU are important to me. I look at YOU only. I do not appeal to your mind or intellect. I address only the inner fellow, the consciousness. It is easier to get in and set things right than speaking out which is wasting time.

Progress means ‘Master is everything’ to me. Your progress is my business, not yours. It does not depend on what you

do or do not do, but what report I give my Master!

Whatever is necessary is given, but the giving is invisible!

The water is disturbed. It has to become still. For that, what should you do? Well, you should not do anything

at all. For, any attempt here would only make the water murkier; you

20

should wait. Remember, they also serve who stand and wait!

You should do nothing. In fact there is nothing you can do.

Once you have come to me and made the big request, then, you relax and I work. And, don’t remind me as to what I should do. You do your work and I do

my bidding.

Let your consciousness become still as a flame inside a pot, without a flicker!

Be unconditionally good!

Retain the quest. That is Tapas. Never allow your questions to be answered. Let the questions merge into you and cease to be. Then, you alone shall remain.

Be still inside and cheerful outside!

Your helplessness is your eligibility!

I shall take you there! Even if you leave me, I shall not leave you…

Stop going from stall to stall. Retain your quest but abandon your search.

21

Renounce the state of helplessness. You are not a cricket or a worm. This Jiva is Brahman itself. How can you be a poor creature?

You are my duplicate personality; you are my double!

You have not used me properly. You

have not drawn what you could have. Not only giving is invisible but there is no giving really! It should be taken. Take it! Now!

Establish the contact. Look at the form. Can’t you speak to the picture? Establish contact, NOW!

Grace is a process, earn it! What ever happens to you, know that it is happening (pointing to his heart center) here. You want to weep? So long as

you weep inside me, it’s alright. The next question is do I know what is happening to you? Not everything gets registered here. But if anything tries to go out of your control, I know it and what do I do? I pray!

What is My Inner Finish? (16-01-95)

I have love for one and all in general and in an unqualified manner. But, those who love me get additional love in response to them only!

Not attached in my consciousness level

to anything or any individual, including my own wife who served me sincerely for 30 years.

I do not interfere with the Karma of any individual on my own including my own children.

Would not assume any doer-ship to change the destiny of people.

Sri Krishna is my ideal who was fully dynamic with no doer-ship what so

ever.

I am completely detached with everything. After Sri Krishna, it was Ramana who lived like that!

I always have concern for humanity at large. I have no respect for anyone who violates human values even if he is of

the status of Indra.

30

I consider that God is not some one greater than a perfect human being but may be bigger because great circle of contacts!

Although I have no personal afflictions to any individual, I have impersonal considerations like kindness, affection and gratitude. I extend necessary help;

I sympathize impersonally.

I consider Buddha is an ideal of impersonal consideration and sympathy. This is essentially “Karuna Rasa” (Ocean of compassion).

Nothing in the world surprise me, leave alone causing a shock! Because every happening is obvious to me, their causes and affects.

No happening taking place around me,

including cheating me can escape my attention, but I do not react to anything. The event, however, is recorded and not forgotten unless I deliberately want to forget. Once I decide so, I will never remember, again!

No secret can be hidden from me. If I want to know anything, I can readily

know it. As a gentleman I would not like to peep into other’s matters, since

31

this precisely the task of “Atma Sadhana”.

After completing 60 years of life, I should have made an exit from this body. But, I am on a voluntary extension. I have no idea, what so ever, how long it shall be…But, would not like to know or plan about it.

Revival of Aryan Culture has been the main motivation for my continuance!

Ramana has been the lid opener of my sealed personality, as happening in many a case of souls taking birth on a mission!

When I live in society, I would like to live as a commoner. Bestow fatherly affection to all that come to me!

God has always been kind enough to provide me that much when I wanted to give something to the needy, but it was always just adequately enough, neither more nor less!

Never was placed in a situation with abundant money.

32

I never liked nor proportioned my giving to my possessions. These two are always independent.

I do pass comments when people whom as I consider mine, go wrong. If they did not like my comments and still keep doing wrong, all that I do is disown them!

I obey with all sincerity all those which reflect God made rules in nature!

One can disobey the law but not the government.

My Helping Nature (Guruji)

(29-03-95)

There are persons who have everything for a good and peaceful living but make hue and cry for a small deficiency, all that is due to intense attachment to their kith and kin and in an imaginary fear that something drastic might

occur. The later lose my sympathy! In the former, I try to do as much with human considerations.

Always give necessary blessings for their well being for the asking of it. Knowing anything in the world and not acting or acting, both place responsibility on me. Hence, I am not at all keen to know anything unless I had to…

I prefer decisions be given to me rather than making me to decide. I can grasp everything with the slightest hint.

I am not actually affected by anything. Even the sufferings of my own kith and kin make me only a passive observant with the feeling that they are reaping the fruits of their past Karma’s - Always remember that God is the Base (the

Aadhara)

40

- Nature (world) is the Born

(Aadheya)

- Visualization of such God is Tapas or Penance

I have always nurtured hope for revival of Aryan Culture. If the hope that

essential for human existence. Only when a solution is expected to be arrived at, there should be hope. I have always been lonesome in my personal feelings of hope of revival of Aryan Culture.

God is Nirmaya, Nirvikara and Nirguna

I am not perturbed by any thoughts when I close my eyes, not even the dissolution of the entire world. But, when the eyes are open seeing the

world, the worry, hope about the revival of the Aryan Culture is intense and that is the only thing that can disturb my peace!

I know fully well that no danger can engulf me in this world and I am fully capable of saving myself from any calamity. But, what good is there in it?

That is not a true happy situation for me!

41

When an individual approaches me for divine blessings, it is my duty to give it. I have no right to refuse it.

I do not look at any other qualifications from them, like whether they are my devotees, relatives or friends, good or bad.

I am not concerned about consequences of blessings given to them or whether they actually are able to receive the blessings.

There is what is known as destiny which governs all individuals. I have not taken upon myself to challenge the destiny and see that individual is benefited against his course.

A few bad people took the blessings and got the benefits while some good people

could not receive the blessings. The blessings received entirely are the responsibility of God or destiny, what ever one chooses to call!

Devotion to country leads to liberation. One must be keen in himself when the eyes are closed and keep thinking welfare of the country when the eyes

are open! He must get absorbed in the problem of the country.

42

Chanting Siva, Siva is more powerful than Panchakshari. It is like tapping energy from a live wire. In Om Namashivaya, there is the welfare and safety of others and Lokas involved.

Mother, child relationship is unique and unparalleled in the entire creation.

A bad son or a daughter is known fact but never a bad mother exists!

She bears the child for nine months and is the cause for flesh and blood of the child. She never becomes a cause of their destruction in spite of their being cruel and wicked.

The father is responsible for seed only. His love could some times be nearer to mother’s love but nothing like it. His love could be mixed up with

discriminatory attitude; his judgment will influence his affection and love.

Fights between father and children are known (wars) but never between mother and son or daughter.

Birthday Disourse, 53rd (5.12.81)

Shivaya Guruvenamah

Siva Tatwa is Guru Tatwa which is permanent

The one teaching (The Truth) after knowing it is Guru. The rules are performed with the knowledge that “Embodiments are different, only one thing is with in us, but playing different roles”. Only one thing is Omnipresent. When the dirt on the mirror is wiped off, it shines. Similarly, nothing can pollute the Self (Aatma). Always one is Guru.

Guru is one Tatwa and prostrate to that

one thing which is Para Brahma (Ultimate). That which is neither with beginning nor end is always in this. He who believes in that feeling will be established. That which is tasty internally for the soul needs to be established without boredom!

That thing which has to be constantly

remembered internally must necessarily be practiced!

53

It is like a kite in the sky. It will be safe if the string is held by the one (Guru). This is not dependent on others.

Goal is important. Determination must be strong for the soul. Goal only yields results. Once the goal is known one trend in that path.

That morning Master got up in Abhaya Mudra and declared the following:

I am Panchkshari; I am Adi Bhikshu (Primordial seeker); have come for alms

I have waited for this day for 53 years and today I am making a declaration

This body is unnatural state for 53 years. Do not make me carry this burden any longer

Look at that photograph. Its natural state is to lye flat on the ground. But, it has been fixed up in a frame and a glass and is hung on a wall to the nail! This is an unnatural state for it. Without the thread it will be lying flat on the ground.

Why is it that I am carrying this burden all along? It is with a hope of carrying

54

the begging bowl. Today is Sunday. I have come to your home for alms. What would you give me? What is it that you intend to do henceforth? How much of the urgency do you feel? What should be the attitude? When you know that a guest has come to your house with a great hunger? You must feel the anxiety to quickly cook and

serve. You must jump into my bowl!

Once a bird in a forest knowing that hunter is shivering in cold, has brought small sticks picking up with her beak and prepared a fire. Realizing that he is suffering from hunger, she jumped into fire and sacrificed her body and opened herself as food to him. Who is that hunter? He is really Adi Bhikshu (primordial seeker). He is Parama Guru himself! Such a self sacrifice is needed…

Sareeram Twadeeyam,

Aatma Twadeeyam Pranam Twadeeyam Sarvam Twadeeyam

Madeeyam Nakinchith

55

There should be anything left over belonging to you. That must finally happen.

What should Adi Bhikshu seek? The very first one itself (Ego). If you give away the first thing in you (Ego) nothing else belongs to you shall remain. The drama closes then.

I draw in to my begging bowl using the thread of Samskara, some with love, some with kindness, some with renunciation and some with devotion. The individual is dragged with the long rope of predominant Samskara in them. If there is no dominant Samskara but a mixer of some devotion, love etc., are there, then I shall wait till one of them grows to dominance. Some may have tendency to get attracted strongly to form. For them, he will come in an

attractive form and draws them towards him!

Shirdi Baba used to go with his begging bowl to ordinary and poor people. He used to receive from those who were serving one or two Rotis with the view that they are giving all that they posses. All the Samskaras of such get washed

and become liberated, even if they are ordinary souls. He did not receive alms

56

from those possessing more and trying to offer a little!

“Bhavathi Bhiksham Dehi” should mean finally, that “Dehi” must become the Bhiksha. It must sound so. In the praises of Adishankara at every stage he says “Bhiksham Dehi Kripavambana Kavi Matha Annsapoorneswari” What is

really this? Although it was appearing outwardly as praise he was really asking for Bhiksha (alms). That Bhiksha is the first object (Ego). What is the reason for this? He says Gnana and renunciation. That is why by reciting Annapoornastaka one would be devoid of the illusion and the hurdles for the Bhiksha will be cleared.

All of you are on the right path; but all this caution is for obtaining competency for Bhiksha!

Give away the ego which is the most precious thing. After this nothing else belongs to you. Why? For wisdom and renunciation, have dispassion and detachment to worldly things; recite Annapoorna Ashtakam for removing the illusion and hurdles for offering ego as Bhiksha; be competent for Bhiksha
