Foodbank Mid-Cheshire Foodbank are
desperately short of Instant Coffee Jam, Tinned Meat & Toothbrushes.
Please remember the Foodbank when you are doing your weekly
shop and help those less fortunate than ourselves.
In the past week the Foodbank have fed 101
people including 46 children
St Mary’s Flower Rota We are extremely lucky at St
Mary’s to have a very talented group of volunteers who arrange the flowers in church each week.
This is only possible with the help of many, who give donations.
The average weekly cost is £35 This donation could be in memory
of a loved one or to celebrate a special occasion.
Please continue to support our volunteers and sign the list at the
back of church or speak to Pam Davies.
Palm Crosses Please remember to bring your
Palm Cross from last year to church on (or before) Candlemas (2nd
February). Candlemas marks our last look at the Crib and our first
glimpse of the Cross. At this pivotal point we return last year's Palm Crosses to make this year's
ash for Ash Wednesday. Please leave your Palm
Cross at the back of church. Thank you.
Lent Series 2020 Information about this year's Lent series is available at the back of church. If you would like to take part in the Lent series please add your name to the list so we know
how many booklets to buy.
St Mary’s Organ Work has started this week on a major project to restore the organ bellows. The bellows were installed in about 1874 when the organ was built and
unsurprisingly the leather has begun to rot, allowing air to escape through
holes which would eventually mean that the organ would stop working.
The work is being carried out by Jim Molineux, an excellent craftsman who
was responsible for the superb restoration of the historic Hill organ at Little Budworth. He will at the same
time regulate the currently rather loose action making the organ more reliable and responsive to play. I would stress that the sound of the organ will not be changed in any way. The work is due to last several weeks and services will be accompanied on the piano, giving us a chance to explore some exciting piano repertoire. Details of the music
to be played after services will, as usual, appear on the bulletin.
